and his answer was not a yes or a no, though the alarm bells in my head were “JD Vance is your Vice President, when you are incapacitated to complete your Presidential duties, he is the one to run the country”.

You got the playbook backwards. JD Vance is hand picked by Peter Thiel, and he wants JD in the White House because JD is bought, paid for and Thiel's slave.
