Yes, it's still slander whether anyone takes it seriously or not. The damage it does would be a consideration in any judgement. Very little impact means very little financial penalties. Huge impact could mean huge financial penalties.

To be considered slander, the statement must be both untrue and cause harm to the person's reputation.

If it's untrue, then it's slander. That doesn't mean it's actionable.
