Zohran Mamdani wants to end misdemeanors in New York City. Is this a good thing for the community?

I don't mean he wants to end the crimes, of course not, he wants to end the punishment for those crimes. A misdemeanor is generally defined as a crime punishable by 12 months or less in jail. This will mean that it's totally okay to steal cars, rob people and homes, beat people up and of course shoplift. This laissez-faire attitude is why 12 Walgreens packed up and left San Francisco. The citizens were outraged by this because they relied on those stores. But between the vandalism, graffiti and theft, you can't blame Walgreens for leaving.
I guess when the smoke settles all that will be left is the government stores with empty shelves. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŒ½πŸ—πŸžπŸ
