Actually, I believe that firearms safety and marksmanship should be mandatory classes needed to graduate high school.

6th Grade: Class: Overview of firearms history, handling & aiming, cleaning & maintenance; Marksmanship: BB/Pellet rifle & handheld.
7th Grade: Class: Firearms safety, handling & aiming, cleaning & maintenance; Marksmanship: 22LR rifle.
8th Grade: Class: Firearms safety, handling & aiming, cleaning & maintenance; Marksmanship: 22LR handgun, revolver & semi-automatic.
9th Grade: Class: Firearms safety, handling & aiming, cleaning & maintenance; Marksmanship: Shotguns (trap & skeet, sporting clays).
10th Grade: Class: Firearms safety, ballistics & reloading basics, laws; Marksmanship: Center-fire rifles.
11th Grade: Class: Firearms safety, reloading & testing, laws; Marksmanship: Center-fire handguns.
12th Grade: Class: Firearms classes review; Marksmanship: Competitions (bullseye, silhouette, long range, IPSC, 3-gun)

YES, we need find a better way of making sure that all guns that are kept at home not only ​don't have​ a trigger locks on them but are also kept in a gun lockers and that the keys are kept high up out of the reach of children and that all parents that don't do this are fined and or put in jail and that any one that goes to buy a gun of any kind must have must have a psychological examination because I feel this would help stop all the mass shootings at all the schools & everywhere were else​ that we are having killings and murders. Yes, firearms safety courses should be mandatory for everyone who uses them. Along with extremely swift and harsh penalties for people who fail to practice nominal safety procedures. Problem is, at least a third of this country is paranoid that attending such courses is some sort of tracking program so the gubment knows who to raid first when the bans go into effect. Ell oh ell!

I bought firearms a couple of years ago and went for training at a facility for law enforcement personnel. I keep my handgun locked up in a little strong box and the shotgun is in a locked closet.
