Even as a Christian, you can "forgive" the sinner but not dismiss the memory. That takes more. It takes their confession, repentance and your consequent full forgiving. This sounds like bullshit but it isn't. My highschool girlfriend called me after 57 years. She may have called to reconcile her cheating that caused breakup and get full forgiveness. But she circled around it but never brought it up.

I am married. But I am considering sending her a birthday wish to give her an opportunity to "atone" if she wants that. I feel like a Priest! She is once divorced and then once widowed. I shouldn't waste my time with this but she was my first love and this might just be a final act of love. I wish she never called. But she did.
