This chart isn’t showing how previous generations viewed Nostalgia.
1950s nostalgia was so big and booming , we had movies incorporating it , diners with the 50s in mind even the music would play from a jukebox , movies like Grease and Back To The Future , and Elvis Impersonators.
I can’t exactly say for certain if nostalgia today is different than it was back then, I know the 80s in 2010s was treated like “God” compared to other eras in a similar fashion of 50s praise in late 70s to mid 80s. I don't know. I’m Gen Z, don’t have a time machine to compare one to the other.
It seems fairly consistent. People are rating their youth as the best years. That's reasonable.
On the other hand, rating years as their best years is not necessarily the same as nostalgia. Like I'm nostalgic about a lot of things in the 70s, but the 90s were probably my best years.

The opinions about life during given decades from people who didn't actually live during those decades are useless. The only thing they have to base their opinions on are (largely) revisionist history,
fake, people from the 60s did not think that the best years were 70+. Most people were in the nursing home by then.
I'm reading the chart the other way around. It's saying people who now in their 70s think the 1960s were their best years.
@WindAtMyBack that makes a lot more sense.
