Do you think acts of violence shouldn’t be censored?

I have a hot take.

We keep seeing individuals carry out heinous acts of violence that result in death of others and they all have one thing in common, they’re all censored.

I think if these events were open for the public to see, even those who we see celebrating these atrocities would think differently about it.

I could be wrong but that is my take on it.

I think censorship in general is not to the benefit of anyone. You have to be mindful about the content you consume and be aware of what you’re getting into, if it’s violent or sexual. I can see why people would want to censor violence, I still remember coming across a video of someone being beheaded when I was in middle school, that wasn’t something I forgot. At the same time, there’s no such thing as “a little censorship” it usually ends up being all or none and considered some kind of act of morality in the name of protecting the children. If someone sees that and wants to ask questions, child or otherwise, we should be open to allowing answers.

No, I don't think they should be publicly open this day and age where children can access those things. That is the last thing I would want my child, if I had one, to see. They wouldn't understand any reasoning other than I watched a person die.

Now, I didn't know who this guy was until yesterday. Still really don't. All I know is that when someone's life is needlessly taken from a family, it is a horrible thing to have happen. I am not sure broadcasting it is respectful to that young family.

Only people who have never really experienced violence crave it to any degree. Well, them and psychopaths. But we do have psychopaths. There is video of a long-haired college kid celebrating right in front of Charlie’s tent just a few seconds after the shooting. He was definitely close enough to have seen it and while everyone else was ducking and/or running for cover, he was smiling, laughing and waving his arms like he was on a thrill ride.

don't think i agree. Seeing more blood, guts and gore only seems to increase people's lust for it in video games and movies. Why would that suddenly change for real life instances? The chemical reactions in people's brains are the same. It is not necessary to SEE someone lose gallons of blood to know they're bleeding to death. We don't need to SEE someone's insides all over the campground to understand that they were just mauled by a bear.

Patel claimed loudly on social media they caught the salt lake city shooter, twice. Incorrectly, twice. And then when updates came out by reg law enforcement they wouldn't even share if they had the gun or not, not even details about the gun.

This should be a lesson.

Agreed. We shouldn't be sheltered, that's why people freak out so much when violence does occur. They've never been exposed to extreme violence before.

I think in some cases, like the genocide in Israel and other atrocious things being done by governments and militaries, we should be shown the effect our actions have and the suffering of others

Yes they should be shown on the news. absolutely. it would make both sides, the people who are shy about it and the people celebrating it, more in touch.
