With the exception of traditional families and religious stuff its nearly the same values and beliefs at least from both traditional platforms of the identity and from an American perspective?

Generally, we all recognize the same sociopolitical issues that need addressing. What separates left from right is the means by which they intend to right what is wrong.
Conservatives think people should be self sufficient and accountable to their families and communities. The latter typically through the church.
Liberals tend to want people to be dependent upon and servile to the government in every way. Their contributions should be made on demand through taxation and seizures like eminent domain.
In my opinion, the biggest divide is fundamentally selfishness and self centeredness. Everyone seems to want everyone else to sacrifice for their utopia, but nobody is willing to sacrifice themselves. They behave and speak as though they are beyond reproach, and only people who don’t vote like them have room for improvement. This is rampant on both sides and has been since i became politically aware. Imagine how much good we could do if groups of people policed themselves first. Then maybe we could have a competition over who is doing it better. Rather than the race to the bottom that we are currently involved in.
The political definitions you find online are just a shadow of the real thing. They've been so abstracted that they're meaningless. What you're really looking at are the modern, secular distortions of two ancient cosmic principles. The 'conservative' impulse is a Saturnine quality—it's about order, tradition, and preserving the form of things, giving them a solid foundation. The 'liberal' impulse is a Jupiter-like quality—it's about progress, freedom, and breaking old forms to move forward. In reality, one pulls the other into a new shape. The Saturnine, conservative impulse pulls the Jupiter impulse down, giving it a very concrete, legalistic, and often secular form. So you get a secular law, which is a very conservative structure, claiming to be liberal and free. The political labels are just a shadow of this deeper, spiritual battle that's been going on for millennia.
I don't see what conservatives see in trump. They value hard work. Their farmers rely on gov funding 100% to make it through to next seasons. They also reply on immigrants to employee business. trump has a history of anti gun support. He has not delivered on lowering the cost of groceries or gasoline, utilities are going up $25+ in Dec because of his changes. He just takes. Not given anything back.
Republicans do nothing to question him.
And dems. Do nothing.
Both are so similar.
It seems middle voters are the only ones speaking out.
conservatives love god, guns, bootstraps and tradition; liberals love progress, protests, tote bags, and performative reading

This study helps illustrate the primary difference. Conservatives are more empathetic to people closer to them. Liberals are more empathetic to even inanimate objects over their family. This is why the left is engulfed in suicidal empathy.
Classical Liberalism is the core of American ideology. American conservatism tries to preserve that foundation. What people seem to call Liberals are Socialists (Social Liberals). There are huge differences between Classical Liberalism and Socialism which is what Democrats truly are.
@contentious At the University of Akron, I went to the "College of Liberal Arts' and intended to be a Social Worker, but after going through the program, I decided it was not for me, although I support many liberal views, the "right to choose" and other women's rights, but tend to be a fiscal conservative, and support other 'conservative views'. I went away from 'liberal views, based on my experience with many Professors in the College.
They are definitely not the same.
Liberals want someone else, typically the government, to take care of them, which is why liberals like socialist things like welfare and free health care.
Conservatives want each individual to take care of themselves, and reduced government involvement in people's lives, which is why conservatives like things like tax reductions.
First of all, liberals are centrists. Secondly, the difference is that liberals believe what they say where as conservatives are hypocrites.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
What you've typed is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
You’re never right.
We know you’re an idiot. You don’t have to keep restating it.
And yet, here you are. Vying for dumbest liberal on this site.
Not even close. The democrats believe the government owns the people and wants government controlled everything while republicans believe the people own the government and want as small government as possible
conservatives tell the truth and use God as their moral compass
liberals love to virtual signal and use society's validation as their moral compass

We’re nothing like them. We value human life and we believe in civil disagreement
