Why many Americans are shocked by Kirk's death ?

You make a good point... It's just dramatic and sensational. Media loves that. It is alarming as its another political assasintion.. we've had a few. That... is bad, it will also soon become... very expensive.
XXX Palestinian kids died yesterday of starvation and being blown to bits. Equally sad. Ditto for the Israeli's killed recently.
It's always been a screwed up world.
Charlie was a good guy, so were others. Maybe he could have sugar coated things better or presented better, showed more affection and empathy to whom he was often dealing with, of very different views and some likely mentally ill by view of most. Probably help. But still, this is a messed up world.
Be very careful how you treat others and what you say. Either way, we all die. If believe in Jesus, it sets you free of the fear of death, so we can live more true to God now... wyhich is constant effort as Jesus said "pick up your cross daily". That's the idea.
Blessings to all you in France!
Charlie was a "good guy"? Your opinion, obviously. Charlie was an outright racist. He supported the genocide and murder of thousands of children and adults. He called anyone who felt misplaced in their own bodies "mentally ill", and fostered hatred towards alphabet people "in God's name". Make no mistake, his unfortunate death due to gun violence happened in a world he helped create. I suppose he would say it was worth it, huh?
@lightbulb27 Politically-motivated assassinations are always wrong, but it doesn't change the fact that Charlie Kirk was a piece of crap. He didn't deserve to die but I'm not mourning him.
@ErzebethBathory I don't see a "POC". makes no sense to me.. he was married, had two kids and was doing work... bringing some views to college campuses. I don't agree with his style... I don't like debate as a form of anything... I like the way Vivek Ramaswami communicated. But I admire him for taking a different view to campuses where it is a battle ground of ideas.
That what he said triggered people, made them so mad and that someone killed him for his views, is scary. It's a sign of how the democrats got pulled so far left.
Concerning times. Question is... are others valid targets in the eyes of those that think like the assasin? There's various others pushing against far right views.
And this..." It's a sign of how the democrats got pulled so far left." is a sign that you've just lost ALL credibility. "The Democrats" who are " ... so far left..." Like wanting our tax dollars to go for services to those who need it, affordable health care, safety regulation enforcement that keep people alive, holding the corporate world accountable for their actions, protecting THE VERY SPACE we live in ( I called it that because the word "environment" triggers you guys and sends you into a frenzy screaming WOKE, you know, that word the GOP and Conservatives don't even understand).
You're looking for someone to blame and scapegoat because one of your mouthpieces got killed, plain and simple. So take the LOWEST possible non-sensical denomination, "Democrats", and push yet another ignorant narrative because your base will believe it. That's what you're doing.
@loveslongnails not true, they have some policies that make sense or can... basically redistribution of wealth... that I get. But in other areas these vocal groups have bullied their way... thats a reason some democcrats left. granted, political winds change and has all happened before.
No extremist Democrat group has got ANY Legislation through Congress. Nothing. Zero. Name one thing, you can't. On the other hand, the GOP has pushed through countless extreme measures.
No one paying attention was shocked.
The people who are, are shocked because things just got undeniably real. When you have half of the country constantly stoking itself into a self righteous tizzy without any consequences for years on end, people get used to the idea that they can just say whatever inflammatory bullshit they want without anything happening to them.
Now we see that this is not the case. And the people who contributed to Kirk's death (including the alarmist anti-MAGA posters on here) are struggling to figure out a way to justify their behavior.
I think it's because this is the first time we <35 seen a close up of an actual successful assassination take place around a large group
of youth.
He was talking and bam!
Then knowing it was because he was exercising his freedom of speech through his political views
Really mean if we get a big enough following and someone doesn't like our views
We're next.
That's scary because most of us are introverted, anti-social or looking for people to like us (social media)
No clue. In a country where any asshole can get a gun, almost without restriction—with more shootings than anywhere practically—in a state that voted for concealed carry on campuses and universities—and to have it happen to a controversial, combative, prick that espoused narrowly specific views that people took issue with, …how is anyone surprised?

Many Americans aren't shocked. Maybe those on the right are mostly because one of their own finally paid the price for their divisive, hate-inducing rhetoric. Those on the left who are shocked are naïve with a difficult time realizing "one of us did this" (which we don't actually know yet). Yes, people are human - left or right - and killers come from every political stripe.
This has been coming since 1988. It was just a matter of time before a successful high-profile political assassination like this occurred in the US.
Not only the Americans were shocked, anyone who had just a little knowledge about charlie is shocked, this man is unique and delivered god's message to young people, even if someone didn't knew him at all, no human deserves to die in this terrible way, especially that he was doing nothing weong and haven't hurt anyone, the man was only lecturing and having debates, if you don't like him, you can simply leave or not watch him at all, but to go there and put an end to his life is terrible and shocking and shows how some humans are just scums!
Its actually really rare.. Believe it or not.. Especially for political commentators.. It's not a common thing at all.. The assassination attempt on the President hasn't like Trump happened this bold and bad in decades.. Plus Charlie Kirk has been doing this for years without a shot going off..
Well, America has access to guns more than any other developed country... And the extremism on one political end is getting a bit too crazy..
@julie07 Nah, logically if you have a country where guns are accessible you will have some gun violence.. But most guns have been used to protect..
"only one side seems to have been shown to actively try and assassinate their opponents" LOL.
Here's an incomplete list:
"The man who targeted and killed Democratic state Rep Melissa Hortman was a Trump supporter.
The man who targeted the home of Dem Governor Josh Shapiro was a Trump supporter.
The man who targeted and killed the son of Obama-appointed District Judge Esther Salas was a Trump supporter.
The man who tried to kidnap Nancy Pelosi and assaulted her husband was a Trump supporter.
The men who were convicted trying to kidnap Dem Governor Gretchen Whitmer were Trump supporters.
The man who sent pipe bombs to the homes of Obama and Biden was a Trump supporter.
There is no equivalent or even similar list of Obama or Biden supporters who have carried out similar murders, attempted murders, or violent attacks."
Mehdi Hasan
@goaded None of those people were said to be "Trump Supporters"... At best some were either registered republicans in the past, or maybe voted for Trump at one time.. But definitetively and actively supporting Trump or Right leaning..
Also I don't see Trump supporters going around wrecking communities and threatening political violence constantly like the Left has done..
Whatever lets you sleep at night. Fox News is talking about killing mentally ill homeless people. That's not "threatening political violence"?
If Stephen Miller a Trump supporter, or vise versa? Do you believe the left "looks upon the perfect family with bitter rage"? ↗
@goaded It's whatever the truth is.. I'm not saying that the Right is perfect and that some of those people weren't Ringwing.. Just that it's more lopsided.. And violence is not encouraged on the Right, especially like it is on the Left.. You guys think you have the moral authority to enact what you think is justice.. I also doubt Fox was talking about killing anybody..
And I don't know who Stephen Miller is..
Yes, it is lopsided. One side damages property, the other side damages and kills people. One side has some extremist rhetoric on the fringes, the other is nothing but extremist rhetoric, coming from the top down.
"[MSNBC reporter and online extremism expert Brandy] Zadrozny: I forget the researchers’ term for this, but there's an asymmetric polarization from online extremist spaces. You can find online extreme content from the left but not that much. It's pretty hard. On the right. you can find it literally everywhere. It's just overflowing.
Now, that doesn't mean necessarily that all these people are Republican. I would say probably most of them aren't huge fans of Donald Trump. They're fans of nothing. They're fans of extremism. They're fans of “burn it down.” They're fans of “this system isn't working for me, destroy it.” They're fans of chaos."
Take a second to look him up. He's this century's Goebbels.
Because generally those murders come from BROWN communities.
And before you label that as racist. Let's take a look at countries routinely (as murder rates vary from year to year) with the highest murder rates. El Salvador, Jamaica, Honduras, Mexico, and Venezuela.
To put things succinctly, "When Mexico (or any of these other countries) send thier people they're not sending thier best people. They're bringing people with problems, people with drugs, they're bringing crime". And for too many years, decades the United States has turned a blind eye to this.
But back to your question. Murders tend to happen in these poor, crime ridden brown communities. Not on white America's doorstep.
It's hyperbole from the hard right; several right wing politicians, influencers, and media personalities have already blamed the left and declared "war" on the left, despite that the killers' identity, much less political intention, is completely unknown.
More or less, it's an excuse fascists are using to further the authoritarian agenda in the USA.
And it will work.
People are so gullible.
First because murder is horrible. How can we not be shocked... especially when it was to SILENCE him... when speaking is harder to "delete" than a post online. this was not "the daily crime" that is horrible, this is worse because of what charlie said.
It's not everyday a politician does gets killed and especially an online influencer (which is how most people learned of him). No one ever thinks of a YouTuber they watch will be murdered especially while being recorded.
It hits closer to home due to that since they are familiar with him. A family friend is a cop, but it'd still be shocking to hear if he died. No one expects things like that.
@dustybiker2 if that school schooting did not make headlines then how do you learn about it?
and a major chunk of news outlets only ever report events solely relevant to general politics, which is why they focus on politically influential cases.
@hardon-collider You are 22?
Because we loved him and... how many assassinations have we experienced in our lifetime? There haven't been recorded assassinations since the 60s with the Kennedy's and MLK. We don't have high profile people in the USA murdered every day.
Why would it not be a big deal.
well i guess that's practical proof that the idea of basically unregulated firearm ownership is highly problematic. which is ironic cause he was a big fan of that. like yeah there's certain rules you have to follow. but it's way too easy for a nutcase to get a gun.
In Canada we own up to 10,000 joule fire power. anyone could do this here. but we don't. because we are a little bit kinder to one another.
@Hardon-Collider i mean if it was really just that easy, why can't the usa do that? not a snarky comment. i'm really curious.
because of immoral degenerates who lie for shekel making sakes, and the rest are just possessed by hatred.
Literally just remember how low one has to be to preach "vaccines stop the transmission", to jail anyone who says that the evidence proves otherwise.
Our country handled it with a massive trucker convoy, even though many of us own high-joule wireless hole-punchers too.
@Hardon-Collider i think people aren't just possessed by hatred without any good reason. and yeah i remember the corona thing which was corporate greed we have all over the planet, not just in the usa exclusively so i think that can't be a possible explanation. in our country there was massive rebellion but it was mostly just not shown by the media so it wasn't real in the heads of people.
@genericname85. Where is that? I guess different states have different regs.
@genericname85. A tiny percentage of people who pass background check in purchasing a firearm commit homicide. I'm not giving up the right to own guns over that. And I don't want to go all Minority Report on the population, either.
It's a much larger percentage that will end your life by drinking or texting while driving. Are you afraid to get in a car?
Twice as many people die in highway accidents than in firearm related homicides. Hell, twice as many people die from accidental falls. But those don't make headlines so people don't think about them.
absolutely. i'll have a much higher chance dying in a car crash when i'm driving under the influence compared to when i'm driving but i'm not belted in for example. that's why i don't drink and drive. but i still also buckle up xD you know what i'm saying?
are you retarded? did you forget that we Americans are humans too? do you assume that just because someone is a soldier and been on a battlefield that they just numb up in life and dont care when they hear shooting or witness someone get shot?
we are not immune to tragedies!
also Charlie Kirk was a good man that stood up to modern day political injustice. this is enough reasons for us to be "shocked" by his death
I feel they're (at least his supporters) are more angered then shocked, and you have some prominent leftists shitting their pants out of fear of a defense attack. I think it was Cenk Unger, as much as I dislike the guy, he made a comment that this has become so normal, that people aren't even shocked anymore.
Watch, by next week, everyone's gonna forget all about it and go right back to attacking each other.
All good people are outraged by it. The rest of you are condemned to hell if you aren't.
Here's a preview for you. Buy Kevlar clothes.

It doesn't matter if you deny G0d. He knows where you live. Please. Deny G0d!
Says the frog whose country is in shambles, lol.

political assassinations do not happen here every day. And many people likely are shocked because the democrats/liberals spent 24/7 telling everyone that Trump, his followers and this guy, Charlie Kirk are "literally nazis". But the actual nazis are the ones who would assassinate political opponents. So many people just realized the democrat party is the REAL party of nazis.
The countries with the most political violence include:

These rankings are based on incidents of political violence per 100,000 residents from March 1, 2024, to March 19, 2025.
Typical maga cult speech
You DO fail to realize the assassinations/murders by conservatives.
For instance, did you forget Charlottesville in 2017?
Did you forget Oklahoma City in 1995.
Did you forget... etc...

ccjls.scholasticahq.com/.../67191.pdf
There was literally another school shooting that happened in the moments of the aftermath discussion. Not made headlines.
You notice how there wasn't nearly as much outrage by these same people when the Minnesota lawmakers were shot a few months back? in fact a number of them even cheered that on.
makes you wonder hmmmmm...
It was a tragedy but not totally a shock. Thr liberal democrats have been trying to kill Republicans since President Trump first ran for president in 2015.
Ironically, Thomas Matthew Crooks was a registered Republican. Evil and mental illness isn't exclusive to any political ideology
@BonzoInBitburg He registered as a Republicsn to vote in the Republican primary so he could vote against Trump.
There's no record of him doing that. The only time he voted was the 2022 midterms.
@BonzoInBitburg You are correct, there is no record but he was a known democrat.
Vance Luther Boelter was a Republican that shot and killed Democrat Melissa Hortman and her husband and also shot Democrat John Hoffman and his wife only a couple months ago. You can't tell me there aren't crazies on both sides.
The only thing linking Thomas Matthew Crooks to the Democrats was he donated a few buck to a progressive get out the vote organization but he unsubscribed from their email list almost immediately after receiving his first email from them
@BonzoInBitburg well according to the maga cult, themselves and Trump are perfect. The most narrow minded group you could ever come across
It's not often you get to see a graphic video of an assassination. So, for many, it's their first exposure to extreme violence.
Because shock is a normal response to someone passing away.
Why are Democrats not shocked by Kirk's death? Why? Because they are all infected with incurable evil and are likely destined for hell. Buy Kevlar now.
@dustybiker2 You have to understand that hate and truth are not the same thing.
@dustybiker2 The time for public debate is over. Keep your head down,
Why is this insane person not banned from gag?
@dustybiker2 An alternative viewpoint is not hate.
@GirlsAskGuys
Why is @Dargil not banned?
@julie07 Yep, a shooting and multiple deaths every day somewhere in the U. S.
Young father shot for basically saying what most people think.
Would you be shocked if a person was shot dead in front of you?
He was shot dead in front of a large crowd. It was also on video tape.
I would be freaking shocked and scared.
As far as I know he was just a "debate me bro" sort of bro and not a politician.
Being assassinated by a sniper is not the same as a gang hit, or killing one's spouse.
Because an influencal political figure being killed on camera hasn't happened since JFK
@jamesgoldman oh I didn't watch any such footage, aka I didn't even watch visual news, obviously I'm not under a rock in that obviously I heard or read news articles as a written summary of said events yet like most people who aren't American, the gentleman's name has no name recognition to me
JFK duh is name recognition. I never knew nor know still who that gentleman was described or their photo basically is as clueless to me as someone showing me some no name celebrity from a streaming show I hadn't heard of aka I'm not a Sex and the City fan. Samantha, Miranda - I don't know and some Mr Big, shrug
I hadn't heard of him before the events of this week
@jamesgoldman I sometimes man, the older I've gotten and the older I get, that you know + sometimes I wonder why "some people are promoted as news" while other "nobodies* aka the likes of you and me, aren't newsworthy. So sometimes I wonder why news or whatever considered a famous person cough cough is promoted while others aren't promoted. I am not talking career advancement, I'm talking "why are some stories "pushed* and other stories" not pushed. Makes you wonder who calls the decisions in the world, past and present 📰🗞️ 👀
@jamesgoldman yeah it came on my laptop news feed earlier in the week as breaking news in the news section tab and as a foreigner me im just like "uh, who?" Shrug - and not that had any interest in the who either - the name sounded so weird and just, forgettable. 👀 As the saying, what's in a name
@jamesgoldman and in conclusion, like above, I first commentated, it's weird why "why are some folks promoted as news stories, and other folks aren't promoted and "the why" behind why" + just makes you wonder sometimes is news just agendas
I don't think either side should be killing each other.
The most gun deaths? Not even. For how many guns in this country it's a statistical zero. Where other countries have virtually no guns and still have a higher death to gun ratio.
I'm not shocked because I knew the Left wasn't done with assassination attempts
Yes, for us, a normal day - happens a lot and you get used to it.
I don’t kmow what country you are from but most likely free because Americans died saving little rotten one
No, your odds of being killed by a gun in the USA is quite low, about the same as dying in a car crash.
Maybe we should regulate them like cars & drivers if there comparably deadly...
Because it was COMPLETELY uncalled for!!!
Yes, it’s so sad
Beats me. We perfected violence!!
Because Americans are brainwashed
They're dumb and/or hypocritical.
