Some will remember him that way.

Its important to remember that what he said in life was kind of objectively vile (whether or not our people have become so bad that that’s no longer objective, in which case…YIKES), so I’m not going to canonize him in death just because what happened to him was uncalled for and ultimately tragic.

I’m old enough where I was in high school when Kurt Cobain died, when 2Pac died, when Biggie Smalls died. These were just artists of my generation, then one day, tragedy struck, and it was shocking in all cases. But to that point, Nirvana was a really good band, 2Pac was a really good rapper, Biggie was only an album in, but was a really good rapper.

Then they died.

OVERNIGHT, sentiment changed to “Nirvana is the greatest band of all time”, “2Pac is the greatest rapper of all time”, “Notorious BIG is the greatest rapper of all time.” Dying was the best thing that ever happened to their careers, and it almost became offensive to NOT say those things.

Charlie Kirk, I never held him in high esteem, and before the other day, I was wishing him away, just not like this. I feel about his death the baseline level of respect I give any death. I can simultaneously hold the beliefs that what happened was terrible, and also that the world is a better place with his messaging removed, as much as others will try to carry it on. But nothing he stood for was good, let’s not get that confused for one second.

My fear is that people will be stupid, as people tend to be, and the mood will be “Since Charlie died publicly and in a gruesome fashion, that makes him a great man, and makes his beliefs UNIMPEACHABLE!”, which is simply not true to any logical mind.

If you liked him before this, he’ll be a martyr. If you didn’t, you’ll probably (hopefully) feel the requisite amount of empathy for he and his family.

I’m just wondering where all this outpouring of support and calls to end political from MAGA was when the Minnesota House Speaker, her husband, and their dog, were murdered by a Trump supporter. Awfully quiet on that one. Or actually, they were super loud at first, immediately tried to blame a liberal, and then they just Homer Simpson back-walked into the hedge when he turned out to be a MAGA-loving Evangelical preacher. Still waiting on those apologies….

The saddest part of that, is that those illiterates throwing the term Nazi around, have NO IDEA what a Nazi IS or what the term means, they just heard another illiterate son-of-a-bitch, using the term. That is pathetic at best, and brain dead at worst.

My point being that the ignorance we see demonstrated in society, is mind bending. These people commit gross murder with absolutely no reality or logical thinking regarding what they are doing and apparently are thinking in some warped thinking that they are...saving society.

If you asked most of these 'would-be' saviors of Democracy, "Who was Adolph Hitler and what his 'ideology was, they could not tell you if their life depended on it.

He was simply a loudmouth asshole. So other assholes will make him their martyr hero. All the racists and homophobes and wealthy pedos will do and say hateful shit in his memory. Trump will probably grab the privates of a female child on every anniversary of Charlie's death. Kirk helped cover up the Espstein scandal.

It's still sad that he died, though. We need strict gun control in the US.

Not at all. He begged his followers to bail out the guy who attacked Pelosi's husband with a hammer, so pro political violence. He defended killers by saying gun deaths were acceptable to protect the 2nd amendment and complained too much empathy in the world was bad. So it sounds like a whole lot of karma for him.

That's the definition... A martyr is one who bears witness of the truth, and suffers death in the cause of Christ. That's pretty spot on for Charlie. He went around debating ideas based on his Christian faith trying to bring truth to those he spoke with and they killed him for it.

Ironic that the movement he founded was called "turning point" eh.

I think what utah's governor (I think it was) said yesterday. That it depends how the next chapter of our plays out. This could be the end of dark chapter in our nation's history and we rise from here. Or it could be the first chapter in an even darker part in our history.

Based on how people have responded as a whole. I'm optimistic that things get at least marginally better from here.
