So yeah if you’ve been on the internet this past week you likely already know who said this: Charlie Kirk. While everyone on the right is claiming he was this modern day Socrates im here to tell you he really wasn’t. He was a dude riding a social media wave by spreading hate. Fine, don't call it empathy if words and ideas scare the shit out of you. Call it walking a mile in someone else's shoes. Call it introspective thought. Call it seeing the world through another person's eyes. Call it looking at things from a different perspective.

It's not a new age concept. But fine, if you think it does a lot of damage what's your alternative?

Empathy is putting yourself in someone else’s shoes to be able to not pass judgment, but come to a point of reasoning. With that point of reasoning you feel admiration and respect for the individual, maybe then you’ll treat them kindly and show a hint of compassion which will brighten their day.

Empathy is a strong skill, by taking what you know from that interaction you can then put that knowledge and experience towards yourself and your struggles or help lift another up by treating them the way you’d want to be treated.

I suppose, to the extent that empathy leads to nihilism. I’m more likely to feel sympathy and be sad that you feel a certain way, but that wouldn’t forgive that I don’t feel that way. I mean, how could I be empathetic to an incel?
