I try to be, but if you’re going to bring up hot-button topics then you need to be prepared for a slow conversation so I can control my defensiveness. Did that the other day with a conservative family member about the bathroom laws, I was getting heated about it, had to pause and take a break to calm down and gather my thoughts before continuing the conversation.
