If AI takes over jobs, you really believe they will provide a Universal basic income?

In today's world, even if we work hard, they don't provide us any good money. We barely eat good things or in most countries there are housing crisis and inflation. And you still believe in that utopia called UBI?

Well let's say our home grown psycho's somehow decide to vote in their own best interest for once and universal income becomes law. What level of income will a UBI benefit represent? If you're losing a job that pays say $75K - $150K, what would you need to stay in your home or apartment, pay your utility bills, put food on the table, and have medical insurance? What the fuck is a $1K / mo UBI check gonna do for you?

Also, I don't think you can have an economy with 50% unemployment and UBI without nationalized healthcare as part of the deal. Health insurance alone would consume your UBI check.

The only way a 50% unemployment economy would work is a 95% top income tax rate without loopholes for the top 20%. The 1% have just finally seized power. They didn't buy the US government to raise their own tax rate.

This ends in class warfare / revolution to eliminate the current aristocracy and with them wealth inequality... again. We are 100 years beyond the New Deal that created the US middle class and our consumption based economy. The New Deal has just been utterly erased from our society. Our political system and economic system is not working for 99% of the population... again. And the cycle begins... again.

The question is... how long will the US population sit and do nothing before they rise up and take back their country from a handful Capitalist Oligarchs?

And look how many people have been living off Ubi for generations. Failing Banks get Ubi. Fauling automotive companies get ubi. Farmers get paid to not grow things.

Bill Gates suggests that robots pay income tax. That's just one model of Ubi there's many more.

But think what the alternative would be if they try to let us all starve. It would be a bloody war. So let's imagine you have a company with all these robots doing the work. Why would you want the company? To make money? Who would pay you money? The robots don't have any money. You would need people to give you money. The robots won't buy your televisions and iphones. And they rarely get hungry. What would be the point of even having a company without humans?

It's not that different then a dividend stock like coke cola or ExxonMobil. Alaska has the pfd and were getting $1000 next month.

You put a tax on robots no different then the same economic impact as a living person wage. Gather it up and give a rebate to the people or just fill in the budget then lower taxes over time. Lot a different ways to go about it.

In alaska since the beginning of the dividend was discussions about not giving cash out every year. Let it grow in the stock market and oil prices grow the state budget. While alaska has the lowest tax burden it still suffers from it and still more expensive state to live in.

As much as i say alaska is a hell hole, this nationalized oil profits paying majority of our state budget keeps us slightly above southern states in every crime statistics.

Just imagine taxing robot workers the same way as people and people can live life.

The question is not as much whether UBI should be a thing but how much it should be.
