What do you think about UBI?

For those who don’t know, UBI stands for “Universal Basic Income” it’s a program where the government pays you a baseline wage without needing a job. There’s no specific qualifications to get it, you just have it.

I like UBI, I think it would be great to implement in my country

I like UBI in theory, but in practice I’m not sure it would be so simple

I don’t like UBI in theory, I think it doesn’t address the issue it’s trying to solve

I am a firm believer in a UBI supported by robotic labor.

It takes goods and services to pay for goods and services, you can't just "create money" as money is just a representation of those goods etc. That's how inflation happens (look at the stimulus packages in the US and the fall out to the economy). BUT, from an economic standpoint the source of those goods and services can be anything or any one.

I believe that all work is going away, that machines and AI will replace our entire workforce. And that humans must prepare now for that world. And an easy way to do that is to tax companies that replace workers to shore up our failing social safety nets and eventually slide into a UBI.

We have an ipso facto slave class in industrialized countries, it's time to share that labor with the people who that labor displaces.

Its the BEST way to top off wages of working poor and us separate from unemployment. Its family based and prevents kids from suffering povertys effects. It pays for itself 10x over in prevention of social ills. BIG FAN!!

The money has to come from someplace. It's going to come from working taxpayers, or consumers.

When you have a job, you produce things for the economy. Everyone wins.

When you get a check for doing nothing, you're just stealing from others and making nothing.

Agape93, what about a UBI supported by robotic/machine labor? Just like an income tax, companies must pay a labor tax for machines to support a UBI?
