They'll lose more by putting him back on the air. Sinclair is dropping the show. Nexstar is also dropping the show and they are in the middle of a merger with Tegna for $6.2 billion so when that is done Tegna will also drop the show. Combine that is most of the American market that will now be dead air for ABC which will be filled by affiliate content rather than ABC's late night show. The show will still be axed in most Democrat cities. They're propping up a show that for left wing lunatics that will not even air in their markets.

Combined Sinclair, Nexstar, and Tegna are 40% of the ABC TV stations in the entire world, but the cover pretty much every single major Democrat city. Thus there will pretty much be a blackout for Kimmel's primary audience. This means his show will either have to take a significantly smaller fee for production or ABC will have to charge far more to affiliates that still air the show which will likely make it an unprofitable prospect and they will likely follow suit and cancel his show as well.

Take a look at Disney's stock price over the last month. The last 6 months
The last year. You'll see that the stock has been volatile for a long time. The Kimmel fiasco has very little to do with the stock price. This much movement is a regular occurrence for Disney. The idea that Kimmel contributed to the movement in any significant way is pure fantasy with zero evidence to back it up.

The stock is only down 3% since they suspended him and was already trending down for the month. They sacrificed Kimmel get their pending deals before the FCC approved. It was an easy business decision.
