To be fair, we're only talking about a relatively small number of commemorative coins. I don't know how it works in the US, but in the UK, the royal mint has released hundreds of different coins, commemorating everything from Brexit and the London Olympics, to Harry Potter, Winnie the Poo, and Wallace and Gromit.
Obviously there are a few thousand people more deserving of the honour, but I don't consider it a huge deal.

No, not a big fan of the idea. Charlie Kirk was a patriot but he was not of the status of JFK or Dwight Eisenhower. He is getting awarded the President's Medal of Freedom which is the highest civilian honor in America. He deserves it more than Bruce Springsteen.
