Well, the destruction of the US agricultural sector of the economy continues. We've all heard about China quickly finding new trading partners for pork, beef, wheat, and soybeans in Canada, Brazil, and Argentina.

Now cotton is dead too. China has walked away from US cotton like a herd of buffalo stampeding away from a prairie fire. So who's the beneficiary? China's new friends in Brazil again. Texass cotton is either sitting in bales in warehouses or being plowed into the ground just like US soybeans. US cotton futures are down 33% since March. There are no buyers.

Meanwhile, US cotton prices are below input costs and falling. They are down again today.

Exacerbating the problem is US monetary policy under our orange TACO fake president which has produced a strong dollar (not a good thing) and further made US agricultural exports unsellable worldwide.

And tRump just gifted the Reich Wing ruler of Argentina $20 billion to soften the economic blow of temporarily suspending their export tax so they could give the Chinese a great deal on soybeans. You heard that right. tRump just funded the deal for China to buy soybeans from Argentina. How does that feel shoved up your ass MAGA farmers?

And the timing is just icing on the cake as the global cotton harvest is very strong in 2025. You cannot make up this level of incompetence!

US agriculture is an export dependent industry as a whole. Yet these America First MAGA jackasses voted to start a global trade war. Congratulations you brain damaged bag of rocks. You have put yourselves in bankruptcy. Now you're begging for a communist handout from taxpayers... AGAIN!

NO! Just no, let Bill gates and Monsanto buy your farms in bankruptcy for 10 cents on the dollar. You are too stupid to own land. Maybe your corporate sugar daddy's will hire you to pick cotton on the farms you used to own.

It gets worse. Korea has put all current and future investments in the US on hold after the debacle in Georgia. Other countries have indicated that now might not be the right time to build factories in the US because Trump just made the visa situation more complicated and expensive, and companies don't have enough employees to send to the US and assist in opening a plant because employees are refusing to go to the US after watching Hyundai and LG workers paraded in shackles. Their only crime was some of them were installing equipment when they were only supposed to be supervising, and some of them had applied to extend their visas but Immigration was taking way longer than usual. Despite assurances from Immigration that the visas would be approved and they were allowed to stay, ICE decided to make a show of it and embarrass the Korean workers. If you've ever done business with Asians you know that you always allow them to save face in situations like that if you want continued long term business. It's a culture of respect and reciprocation is expected.

You can thank US capitalism for that decision. US businesses suffering a severe case of FOMO were tripping over each other from the 1980's to present to "not miss out" on the Chinese market.

Guess what. The Chinese may have a communist government but they understand Capitalism just fine. This was a case of arrogantly underestimating your opponent and being blinded by short term greed. A common failing of Capitalists. We can hardly blame the Chinese for taking advantage of idiots serving up power on a silver platter.

India and China both have populations about 4X the roughly 350 million people in the US. I think you fail to realize that all the Trump tariffs were designed to do were to make the trade deals even. China apparently has an issue with that as expressed by their willingness to look for other "trade partners"

Common dude, its embarrassingly simple to understand what Trump was trying to do here. He is not very smart so lets just go through the scenario ourselves.

Trump looks at the current state of the world. Trump sees trade agreements and assumes that these trade agreements are the "status quo", AKA they are the default. Trump at some point learns about tariffs. Trump believes that he can use the tariffs in negotiations to gain a better deal than "default". Trump starts threatening every country with tariff because he thinks this will work in every deal previously made.

The tariffs was never the end goal, it was a tool to reach a supposedly better agreement for USA. For every country that USA currently has tariffs against, this gamble has failed on.

Do you understand this much at least?

Wow! You aren't a retard. The question you then have to ask, do you believe the prior trade agreements were in America's best interest? It's a rhetorical question of course, since I already know your answer.

... You do realize that I set this up with a flawed premise right? First of all, yes those trade agreements were in Americas best interest but more importantly, they are the results of years if not decades of negotiations during a time where USA was much more dominant. USA today would not be able to replicate the trade agreements it had when Trump became president. Furthermore, its not actually that easy to use the threat of tariffs to negotiate either but thats besides the point.

Point is that this would never have worked for very obvious reasons and every day that Trump has to maintain this threat of tariffs proves me more and more correct.

Figured as much. America was dependent on China... too much so. You may see that as a good thing, but I would disagree. Detaching from China, while painful, is a good move, in my opinion.

I liken it to the EU buying Russian oil. Why buy from someone who is attacking you? It's illogical and borderline psychotic.

If USA was truly dependent on China then you would not be able to detach from them. You are kind of disproving your own point here. Also, EU buying Russian gas (not really oil) is a good example because that was always intended to be a temporary measure while they transitioned from dirty coal to renewables. Furthermore, Russia never attacked the EU. Russia attacked Ukraine which was originally in Russias sphere of influence. The EU make the decision to cut themselves from Russian gas prematurely when they really did not have to as a way to help Ukraine which they had no prior allegiance with.

Both of these are damaging, yes, but not crippling. Both of these was a choice, not a dependency which is very easy to demonstrate today considering what happened.
