What makes you think it's not the Republicans in "blue" states carrying the financial burden of Democrats in the "red" states? I'd be very surprised if you know the answer to that.

How can you draw a conclusion about who is supporting whom, when you don't even know who they are? It's like assuming that a state with a 52% - 48% mix is all red or all blue. In reality, you know nothing at all about it without doing a LOT more research.

People REALLY need to stop talking about red and blue states. There is no such thing. A state that votes for a Republican in the presidential election might have a Democrat governor, or a Democrat majority in congress. Or vice versa. It can change from one year to the next, even though the makeup of the population changed almost not at all.

In the last presidential election, there were 6 red states that won by less than 1%. There were 2 blue states within 1%. (they don't add up because of third party votes) There were 16 states within 5%. Out of those 16 states, more than half had a governor, senate, or house majority of the opposite party. So what color are those states?

Talking about red and blue states that way is no different than talking about black people or white people, or Hispanic or Chinese people as if they are all the same.

If you want to understand what's going on, you need to dig into it a lot more deeply than red or blue.

The "blue states" have always been the wealthier of the the two. That didn't come about as a result of different economic policies, it started pretty much from the very beginning of European colonization, as the people who went to the Northern colonies were largely middle class religious dissidents from London or other wealthy regions of Britain, whereas southerners largely came from the wilder southwest regions and the borderlands between England and Scotland. Add to that the devastation of the Civil War, economic policies namely protectionism which favored northern industry, and the fact that poor migrants from Latin American largely enter through the south and you see why blue states are wealthier. The red states are also receiving some of the poorer migrants from northern states who can't afford the prices in places like California.

The major federal expenditures are Defense, which is disproportionately carried out by red states, Health (i. e. Medicare) which everyone pays into, but more is paid out to states where people retire such as Southern red states with warm weather exists which old people like to live in due to health concerns and quality of life, and income security (i. e. Social Security) which is again paid out to old people living in southern red states when they retire. So the only real expense blue states are paying for is defense. So like I said wimp, field an army. Stop being such a soy boy.
