Why are Latinos always saying "America" isn't a country, but a region, but then get mad about calling it the "Gulf of America"😂?

They are right. America is not a country and I hate when people call the United States "America". Until recently, it was almost entirely people from the rest of the world who called the country "America". Since the Internet got popular, more and more Americans are calling it that. They picked it up online.

As for changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico, that's retarded. Although I've seen that kind of thing many times in my life. A large number of countries, cities and other places have changed names, often for stupid reasons. I can't even keep track of all the changes.

Because that gulf belongs to Mexico. America is not a country. America is a region. Just like Asia is not a country. US citizens calling themselves americans are not wrong, but it like a Japanese calling themselves Asian. Correct, but not very precise.

As for your question, yes and no. Yes you were, the gulf of mexico has been named that twice as long as the USA has existed. However, without knowing exactly where you were, most likely due to agreements between the three sides you were in the part allowed to be governed by USA. Not owned by, governed. Which can still be seen as US territory although certainly not owned by the US.

Okay. I googled it and not a single source backs up your claim. They all say Mexico, USA and Cuba each own parts of it. So I don't know where you got the idea that the entire Gulf is owned by Mexico. That would never be allowed, especially since under international law, a countries territorial waters extend for 200 miles, where possible.
So I don't know where you got your bullshit claim from
