Why is violence against women treated as a distinct social issue, even though men are more likely to kill other men than women?

Well, it probably is a leftover from when women were the esteemed sex who were mothers, and ladies and the weaker vessel. Since women were the ones who had babies and could carry the next generation and were more vulnerable... chivalry came about where women were given an elevated status and reverence.

Chivalry existed for centuries. That is where a lot of issues and arguments stem now. A lot of women still want special treatment and chivalry when feminism and equality and "we don't need a man" and men are oppressors and women can do anything a man can do has been the cultural push in the west for 50 years.

A lot of women still want chivalry and special treatment and equality and feminism. They are frustrated when you cannot get both. You have to pick one or the other but you probably cannot get both.

Because one group has decided to speak up where as the other one believes that complaining about it is unmanly and makes you a wimp and somehow that is a good enough reason for many men to not say anything when they are obviously being mistreated or abused.

For starters, In both cases, the perpetrators are usually men. As for your question, violence & murder is often done to women because of their gender. Men are not killing other men because they are men, but they often kill women because they are women.


Violence towards women is a larger societal issue, one based on misogyny. Men’s violence towards other men is also obviously a problem that should be discussed, but not under the same umbrella as violence towards women as it is not a gender issue, but a symptom of other issues in society.

What evidence is there that most women who are killed by men are killed purely because they are women? If that were the case, why is it that the majority of people who are killed are murdered by someone they have known for a long time? The automatic assumption that whenever a woman is killed it must be solely because she is a woman is nonsense. Women aren’t inherently incapable of upsetting others; they can provoke anger or conflict like anyone else. Claiming that they are always killed just because they are women is an oversimplification.

Simply do some research. You’ll find countless articles and sources backing up what I’ve said. Also, nowhere did I state that all violence towards women is just due to their gender. Didn’t say that they are always killed due to that reason. Just that it is often the case, and there’s a lot of evidence out there that backs up what I’m saying.

If a man can’t have an argument with a woman without resorting to violence and worst case scenario, killing her, then he is the problem there.

Because that violence against us, is mostly sexual violence. So society is slowly getting our rights and getting mens inherent priveleges under control.

Because violence against women is cyclical and cultural. The idea of women being individuals in society is quiet new. And a lot of male violence against women is based on a cultural background noise that can't abide women doing their own thing.

You sure about that? Violence against men from women is astronomical too. But the issue is most men don’t report it for a lot of reasons. When I worked at the police dept. there were a lot of false charges against men for domestic violence. Not to say that there weren’t real cases. But a lot of men don’t report it. I know I’ve been through that myself w my first ex. As soon as they showed up the female cop started in on me as the aggressor. Turns out she was wrong.

We as humans have evolved from a violent past and some believe that it is genetic. But we have a mind and choice so we exercise out choice to be violent or not. What is happening is that society is bending to the concept that violence is a legitimate problem solving tool. That is the problem. It is not Gun violence or violence towards women. It is VIOLENCE. Culturally we accept violence when we should not accept any violence.

the only reason more women don't kill more men is due to the strength difference, women who attack men and get beaten down in self-defense somehow counts as violence against them

Because women are so often murdered because they won't obey men's demands.
