Why are some people so pessimistic when you tell them about a business idea?

They’ll tell you about all the kinds of problems you can encounter, legalities, and all kinds of worries and have a presimistic point of view.

They are partly right. I've started multiple businesses. That's why I would MUCH rather work as an employee. It's so much easier, and the odds are that you will make more money as an employee.

BUT, you should not be discouraged from starting a business if that's what you want to do. It's actually very easy to start some types of business, especially service businesses. The trick is to keep it going and make some money. You really need to have some money set aside to live on until the business starts making enough money to live on.

You don't need to go all in either. You can start just working on the side and get a feel for things slowly.

If you want to start a business, go for it. Take things as they come. Sure, there will probably be some problems come up. Sure there will be mistakes. But you can deal with them as they come. Don't defeat yourself before you even start.

Take it slow. Stand back and evaluate where you are. Little things can be dealt with. But if you go too fast the little things can hit you all at once and overwhelm you. So slow and careful.

And ALWAYS treat your customers fairly, even if it means taking a loss.

Usually laziness

Most people don't even want to do 40 hours and can't wait to finish work, go on holiday or retire

I run my own business and a few other side ventures
I have done for 20 years, these days I do 70 hour weeks, a couple of consecutive half days off a year, I work on holiday and expect I'll die long before retirement age

Because they are broke. If you meet any rrich person they will tell you start your company but you will fail. Failing is a part of learning. You will run in to problems (i have business and i talked to people who are multi millionares who have them too) all of them failed for many years before they succeed. Welcome failure, learn find solutions, get help etc. But start your business I wish you best of luck and if you have any questions let me know.:)

if it’s working for you… then continue. No need to discuss these with those who are not a part of your businesses.

those who are not business oriented generally don’t understand how to run one. Or know how to take risks.

Because too many people have these “amazing” business ideas but don’t understand the reality of starting a business, and then their business idea crashes and burns because they never looked at the whole picture of starting a business - they only looked at their idea.

I run two businesses, so I understand what you mean about those who are uninformed or underestimate the effort required to own a business. However, I’m really referring to the pessimists. those who mistake their negativity for realism. The ones that get stuck in a cycle of fear, which prevents them from accomplishing anything in life. The key is to take action and roll with the punches, not get scared of every possible thing that can happen. No one would get anything done that way. It’s always the people with businesses that say it’s realism when they have no idea what they’re talking about. Thinking of getting my third business and it’s always the ones that have nothing to their name that say this.

Because 90% of businesses fail in the first year because people haven't gave enough thought to those potential problems. It's easy to be over optimistic that your cupcakes for cats business is going to be a success but an outsiders eye will see it differently.

Because they have an employee mindset. They can't do it and can't imagine someone else being successful in business. You'll have to change your friends and hang around other business owners. Stay away from pessimists.

Because starting a new business isn't like opening a lemonade stand. It could have lifetime repercussions on a lot of people so it's not something to be entered into lightly which is why people default to the negative.

This! 🙌 businesses will always naturally come with problems to solve. People think they know so much and get scared and start to be Debbie downers because of all the problems that can arise. If that’s how everyone thought, we’d have no functioning businesses.
