To a limited extent, of course. Qualified immunity used to mean something. If the rules ONLY bind the good guys, the good guys will ALWAYS lose. In the attempt to preserve and protect law and order, sometimes the good guys have to do some shady sh*t. I’m okay with that.
The new culture where thugs get badges and guns only to literally terrorize the citizens they’re meant to protect and serve. That’s gotta go. Bring back capital punishment, for corrupt cops and politicians.

Depends on the law and situation. For example, it makes perfect sense for a cop to speed on the highway while chasing a criminal or run red lights. It makes no sense for an undercover cop to have sex with an underage prostitute while infiltrating a criminal organization.

This needs careful case-by-case deliberation to be decided.

Ty for inviting me to share an opinion. Yes. Following rules and doing the right thing aren't always the same thing.

Like this law: In Fairbanks, Alaska, city officials have made it illegal to give alcoholic drinks to a moose.

That is just so wrong. Illegal or not I'd be the first one out there tipping a jug in support of alcoholic mooses.

No. Most cops do a great job and the body cams have worked out well for cops being able to prove they did their job when arresting thugs.

No, I have known a few crooked cops. they are a disgrace to the badge. There was one guy who was sitting at a desk. I knew him a little because he was one of my customers. I went over to talk to him. We were having s conversation and I noticed he was handcuffed to the bracket bolted on the desk. It turns out he was arrested for robbery and was waiting to be transported to jail. I was shocked.

As I understand it they can speed and jump red lights if they have their blues and twos on but not otherwise. I'm guessing there's lots of situations where they don't need to follow civilian law but are still bound by regulations of some sort.

No, of course not. If we can't ignore laws without punishment then LEO's should not be immune from following those same laws even when in the act of arresting someone.

Do you mean that if someone holds up a bank, murders two people, and takes off in a car, and the police chase in a police car, the thief murderer goes through a red light, you are arguing the cop must wait for the light to change so he can chase them? The title is "law enforcement" - meaning they enforce the law, within the law. If they act outside it, then they cannot enforce anything.

Not except under specific circumstances. Undercover LEOs have a bit more latitude than others. They have to see criminal acts happening and do nothing to stop them. In some cases, they may even have to be an accessory to such.
