Why does the GOP seem unable to reopen the government?

Democrats in Congress have made it clear what is required for them to vote in favor of a bill to reopen the government. The GOP isn't confused or unsure what the democrats want, they know. Their refusal to give concessions to end the shutdown proves that they are at fault for not ending it. There isn't some nebulous desire or vagueness in what the democrats want. They've been very clear, so the GOP is steadfastly ignoring them ensuring the government will remain shut down.

I was fortunate enough to be able to pay for out of network service at an urgent care facility, but most people can't do that.

The tiny place I'm in now isa worth at least $140,000 and I doubt it cost anywhere near that to build it in `63!
