Did American companies really fire thousands of people due to AI?

They say they laid off 100.000+ people from big companies such as Amazon, UPS, Paramount and much more because of AI. If that's true, isn't it so scary?

We are in 2025 yet. Don't know what will happen in the next decades.

I don't know the numbers but advances in technology has made many jobs obsolute. For example, before automatic elevators, elevators had elevator operators. At this time, AI doesn't have intelligence. However, companies use it where they can. For example, corporations use AI to answer the phone. However, they have no intelligence and will waste 5 minutes of your time before connecting you to a person.

That is a stated goal to share holders. Company's have a fiduciary responsibility to maximize profits.

Historically with new technologies they needed just as many people but in a new sector. Like from farming by hand to picking tractors that needed mechanics. From horse wagon to a car wagon. Even the internet boom needed just as many people as old school Switchboard operators.

AI dosen't do anything in of itself but replace people.

I think it was automation and not necessary AI. However, it is coming. Recently people have been talking about the great things that AI will enable us to do. Curing cancer will be accomplished. However, the reality will be that millions will lose their jobs. Many professions will be done by AI. Business owners will jump at the chance to get rid of most of their employees. Nobody seems to be concerned about this.

It's not all due to AI, but yes. It's just one step in the master plan. Soo all will be revealed. But not before you've lost all you free will and are a slave to your corporate master under the guise of big brother.
