Which USA state is the best and why?

Tennessee is pretty good. There are four pockets of crime. but otherwise we are quite civilized. We have good economic opportunity here and house prices are relatively low. And our government is Republican and generally reasonable. I own a moderately priced house here. I get 5 or more calls and texts to sell my house every week. Right now it is mostly investors, like Black Rock. But with all the Californians. Chicagoans and New Yorkers fleeing their cities, My house price is going to go through the roof. I may make more than three to one.

I lived in East Tennessee for 14 years and there were some things I had to get used to of course.

One of them was learning to live in a refrigerator.

Another was waking up in the morning to get my son to school and myself to work and get there on time. Because when it's only 6°F outside, I had to get a scraper and scrape all of the caked on frozen ice from my windows on my car. By the time I was finished I felt like I had been to the gym.

But the reasons why I moved out of Tennessee was because I kept getting laid off from these small companies that went out of business.
And my son was finished with high school. He has learning disabilities and there were NO programs for him to help him. He couldn't just sit at home all day without anything to do.
So we moved back to our home State where we have to pay State taxes.
Those taxes help fund people with disabilities to get a life.

@sage2021 with the arrival of VW, and consequent industrial expansion, there is full employment. We don't have an income tax but we have a 10% sales tax. Fridge and ice? Sounds like Northeast/Appalachia,. At some time recently, Chattanooga was voted the best place in the USA to live. We have scratchy neighborhoods but no slums. This ain't Memphis. ma'am.

I've had a conversation before about me living in Tennessee. I guess you didn't remember.
That's okay.
I lived in the city behind the fence where part of the atomic bomb was assembled.
When I lived there they didn't have State taxes deducted from our paychecks and that's why I said no State taxes. No income tax? They take FICA from the paychecks.
I remember you saying that the people in Knoxville had a lot of mental health issues.

That depends on what you like. For most things it's California if you can afford to live there. For many things it's New York City if you can afford to live there.

Florida isn't perfect. It has problems as well. I would research Florida before moving there.

I like Tennessee but not the beaches. I've looked at defecting to the Lake Wales Ridge because the roads actually have curves and we can plant mangoes south of Rt 60, the frost line.

But you probably have seen manatees. But they aren't really related to whales, they're more related to elephants.
