I got two theories personally. First of all, Venezuela got oil. Like a lot of oil. Like most in the world by a significant margin kind of a lot of oil. Considering Trump is terrified about the cost of living and he subscribes to more oil being able to circumvent all those problems then this might very well be why he is trying to justify a military takeover in Venezuela.

The second theory is that the easiest way to unite a population under your leadership is to establish an external enemy. Think about the national unity in USA after 9/11 for example. It is a very well known phenomena and at least in theory very easy to manufacture without any real costs for yourself. Why spend trillions on rebuilding the infrastructure and providing social services like healthcare when you can just fabricate a war with some 3rd world country and get the same public support? Dictators who has no intention of actually doing anything to help their people love going down this road because of it. Trump might be tempted for the same reasons as everyone else, it feels like an easy solution to a very difficult problem that he probably can't solve himself.

Of course there is always the 3rd option: Random insanity. Trump in particular is not really known for making real plans and tend to just act impulsively. This might literally just be him waking up on the wrong side of the bed and decide to invade another country. Definitely less likely than the other reasons but also not completely impossible all the same.

Well, Venezuela isn't a drug producer and isn't exporting drugs to the U. S. So that's not the real reason.

The U. S. has been trying to overthrow the Venezuelan government ever since Hugo Chavez was elected in 1998. He instituted some land reformed and demanded some of the profits from corporations that were pumping oil out of the country. That really pissed off the ruling class who tried to sabotage the economy, stage rebellions, and overthrow the government. He built housing, schools and infrastructure (electricity and clean water), increased the quality of life for the indigenous people and sharply increased the literacy rate from 85% to 97%.
The U. S calls that socialism.

With the U. S. continuing efforts to overthrow the government under Maduro, the country made alliances Russia and China as a means of self preservation.
The U. S. considers that a grave threat.

Venezuela does not support Israel, having cut diplomatic ties in 2009 and consistently supporting the Palestinian cause.
Since the U. S. is owned by Israel, that is another reason for the U. S. to consider Venezuela an enemy.

But the biggest reason by far for taking control of Venezuela is oil. It has far more high quality oil and gas reserves than any other place on the planet.
The U. S. wants to control those and other resources.

It's a soar spot due to the socialist/communist mess causing mass immigration to USA. Also probably an issue with illegal drugs.

So they are apply pressure to push the leader out.

And then... they can get to the oil, stabilize the economy again, so it isn't a problem. Long ago, Venezula was doing very very well..

Because China is fucking around in our hemisphere. The Americas (North and South) belong to the USA sphere of influence, and China is using Venezuela as a proxy in an opium war against the USA to poison and weaken our citizenry. Maybe you would prefer we just nuke China at the source, but there are softer approaches.

Very good questions. Why are not enough people asking these questions? Even if the issue is drugs maybe the USA needs to accept some responsibility. Without demand there will be no supply. The USA seems to like to blame others for its own drug problem. Is no one in America concerned that your allies do not agree with what America is doing?

I will tell what it is about :

1) OIL , the US will set up US puppet Gov't and US oil companies will profit.

2) Cuba , without Venezuela , Cuba fails also. So it is killing two birds with one stone.

3) Nothing to do with Drugs and nothing to do with Venez Criminals coming to America.
