Would you agree there is a gross disrespect and mishandling of fire and EMS in too many places?

I came across this news post in my feed today. This situation is in Virginia, although, I live in Tennessee and can see this happening here too. No one gives a shit about fire and emergency services anymore.

In summary, that county's administrator had this rural volunteer fire department shut down due to mismanagement and lack of certification. I wholeheartedly agree with that part, but instead of reforming a fire department/station and restoring fire services to that community, the county administrator decides to bulldoze the building for a new Dollar General store, leaving that community with less resources and relying on surrounding agencies.

There is a somewhat similar crooked situation in this rural community of Tennessee with a corrupt volunteer fire department that fails to be investigated, disciplined, or dissolved by the state or county. It is still continuing to operate with unsafe equipment and corrupt leadership with county leaders turning a blind eye. The area is 20 or more minutes from the nearest ambulance, and despite pleas to establish a first responder program for the area, those pleas go ignored.

Without knowing a lot more detail about this, which does not exactly affect me personally and which is a little or no interest to me, I think it's impossible to have any opinion whatsoever. I appreciate that you have an opinion, but I doubt that others are going to or or or that others are going to read extensive articles about this when there are so many things in the world to worry about at this point that are more relevant. That being said, I agree that everybody should have good fire and EMS service and anything that interferes with that is unreasonable

That is where you are wrong. We have become so wrapped up in so much bullshit like woke garbage, the conflicts in other countries, and other national-level got button issues, we forgot about ensuring our basic necessities and heroes are taken care of. We are experiencing a nationwide volunteer firefighter shortage, with many small community fire departments, rescue squads, and EMS services shuttering their doors with no replacements to follow.
