So there is a law where native American Indian children can't be adopted out side of the family or at least prioritize someone within the extended family. It wasn't that long ago either my uncle was adopted away from the family but my mother a year younger was in the family village.

With the government boarding schools and explicit laws saying "kill the Indian save the man." You do have to make these kind of legal distinctions.

Sure we might have to modernized some wording in laws but the over all goal should be the same.
