My child father doesn't help me with our son but want me to give him money from taxes or he would file our son on his taxes. What should I do?

Ask him to grow up to be the man the all mighty designed him to be. Sadly, there are so many "man childs" out there.

Both of you go to a counselor including the all might to repair your relationship into a stable solid family. That will take time... rarely does it work without a lot of work. Children need their fathers, and moms, ideally working together. That might mean he has a come to Jesus experience and a bunch of learning, if he wants to grow up. Most guys your age, are just not there.

If he's not helping and you are raising the child, you declare the child on taxes and get the credit... I think. Might check in your state law for that answer... or talk to lawyer. There's a very experienced one out here.

My wife went through this with X and she humbled herself to maintain respect and order in the nuclear family, she took the high ground... and it's not easy to take. @midnightmoon05

If you cannot make a go with this guy, because he's a selfish child, then set your hope and sights on another decent guy to stabilize your family. Married, make no more kids without it. That means you get some counseling, primarily from the all mighty God Jesus but other sources as well.

I married my wife and took on the two kids. Most guys your age won't be "there yet", you'd have to get someone older.

Unless there is a written agreement between the parents, IRS will allow the custodial parent to claim the deduction and will not allow the non-custodial parent to make that same claim. For IRS purposes, "custodial parent" means the parent with whom the child spent the majority of nights during the year. Both of you claiming the deduction will likely trigger an automatic audit for both of you, so be sure that you document every instance when your child spent the night with someone other than you, and who they spent the night with.

Is the child a minor? Are you married, living together or apart? Does the father work? Is he in the country or out of? What do you mean he wants you to give him money from taxes, …what taxes? You have to elaborate.

1. Go to child protective services and get DNA ordered. Prove paternity.
2. Get maternity expenses ordered. Get receipts insurance did not cover.
3. Get child support ordered with an automatic draft from his bank account.

If you agree, allow him to claim child support he pays as alimony.

Contact the IRS, give them the info, and see what they say. Or a lawyer, there is a possibility that he is engaging in an illegal act by the threat of filing the son as a dependent that is really yours
