Rob Reiner and his wife were possibly murdered. Do you think the police are wrong to have not "officially" released their names?

According to all the talking heads on TV, it's inexcusable for them to sit on that information. The fact that the authorities know the names of the victims but haven't released them, has taken center stage and for some unknown reason (to me anyway) has become controversial. Can someone explain why? How does them not releasing their names affect anyone or anything?

There are two sides to it.

NOT RELEASING
This has the potential to keep those that would hide information from knowing people are looking for information. It is also considered respectful to not plaster people around when they have just died. So, basically respect and supposedly helps with investigation.

RELEASING
On the flip side, if more people knew an investigation was happening, people with information could come forward. Also, the public at large is realizing that the news is doing a lot more controlling of information and not acting like the reporters they claim to be. It used to be that a reporter, and the news in general, was suppose to find information and deliver it regardless of how it looked. Now days, they pick and choose what to say and investigate, so more and more people are getting upset about that.

The accused deserve due process of law. Spreading their names around through the media can convict them in the court of public opinion. So their names should be concealed at least until they are arraigned.

@goaded California halted executions for years. It’s pointless having capital punishment anymore in the state. I’m not the biggest fan of death penalty unless it’s for Brian kohberger. He should’ve got that
