Im 29, live with my parents, pay no rent. I make 1300 leftover after taxes every week. would this be considered financially stable enough to have a baby? would i be in the middle class? I live in a high tax state- NY

5 mo1300 a week * 4 = 4600 a month clear? in nyc...
rent is like 2000-2500?
Transport by bus/train is free under mandami... yea!!!
Food: $1000 month if skimp?
Daycare is going to kill it unless the parents help, I assume not: $1000-$2500 a month until 5yrs old. Don't even raise the kid in bronx or jamaica... heck no. You want roomate/husband/boyfriend for 5 years. rent a husband?
you are ok, but it's tight. It's been done, but it's not "freedom to do what you want" or middle class for a decade. you are top of your strength now. what happens when you "stub your toe"? Still gotta care for baby, get food, deal with all issues.
Reach out into the online communities of women having kids and ask them.
But... there's people that do this and make no money and mooch off the system. maybe that's another option than working, If you don't work, the govt pays for everything at a low level, you stay home to raise the child and the govt is your husband. that makes more sense. Once old enough, you go back to work.
blech, but probably true. I see people in that path and it's rough.
so then I wonder about the other option... two women, both have their own babies by donated you know what. They live together and share everything. that's how humans survived long ago as the guys were out hunting wooly mammoths and thos things ain't easy to haul back.
but the females will drive each other nuts...

Start adding other people it's going to be harder. You do need to establish a base line even start the conversation earnestly. Make a saving account with a high yeild bank of 4% plus and push the limits of where you're at each month. Throw $1000 a month into this account and feed yourself and take care of things. From there you can read where your needs are at.
Push yourself too. Do I need these things? Help recalibrate your needs before you move out. It's better to want to do something then forcing yourself into them.

Asker5 mohigh yield savings don't tend to grow that much money unless you put an enormous amount of money into it. A least 20k to make it worth it.
But i do also have 10k worth of stocks in my investment portfolio. i don't plan on withdrawing it anytime soon. its gonna be part of my retirement.- 5 mo
This is more of a way to mock what its like to paying rent or morgage test. Putting it in a high yield savings account is just to compensate inflation compared to a regular savings.
This is not an investment by any means. Its a safe way to play pretend what you can pay for and live comfortably. You'd also have to pay into your preexisting retirement accounts too if that's apart of your plan.
Asker5 molike i said, its not gonna grow enormously in high yield savings unless you already have a lot of money in it. The bigger your deposit, the more it will gain. The smaller your deposit, the gains will be so minimal... its just not worth it.
you can see a much bigger gain by investing in stock market. I have turned a 190 dollar stock into a 450 dollar stock in just 3 years. Imagine if I purchased 10 of these, I would have made 3500 in just 3 years.

Furthermore, get the idea of "financially stable" out of your head. If someone can fire you or lay you off, then you are not financially stable.
You wanna be financially stable? Have about $10,000,000 in the bank and spend less than $100,000/year; that will enable you to live off of the interest.
Don't have $10,000,000 lying around? Work hard, save, invest smartly... and don't get married.

Anonymous(36-45)5 moWhat else do you have to pay for out of that? Who's going to watch your kid when you go back to work? Better question --- why do you want to bring a child into the USA in its current state? At least you're in NY where you can still get health care if you have a complication. I'd say you haven't thought this out very well at all.

5 moDepends where.
New York? Probably not.
City? No. Maybe upstate. Parents paying all expenses, housing, food, electric... probably.
A baby, where is the father?
00 Reply 8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Well, what part of NY- there's a huge difference in the cost of living between Brooklyn and Syracuse.

5 moUpstate seems like a decent amount for 29. Closer to the city might be a bit tough.
00 Reply 26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Okay- if you live with your parents it is probably enough. However where will the father live? Or will you be raising this child with out a father?
02 Reply1.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. depending on where you live and the cost of living it can be enough to get by, or be ok.
Kids are not cheap!00 Reply4.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. That's not good money. That is just over 60k a year. I wouldn't have a kid without making at least double that.

Asker5 moIm not paying rent or day care expenses so i wouldn't need to make double that
12K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. That's about $88,000/year before taxes. That should pay the bills.

5 moNY is expensive. But there’s cheaper states to live in. Wow, wish I had your problem, I still live on my own
00 Reply 2.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Why are you even thinking about having a baby if you can't even afford to move out of your parents house? Find a guy who is not a bum, move out of your parents house, and then have a baby like a responsible adult.

Asker5 mowhy would i move out of my parents house when I pay no rent?
do you even think about what you're saying makes any sense?
i pay no rent, my parents babysit for free...
why would i move out and pay 2000 in rent
another 2000 in daycare expenses?
- 5 mo
It's not your parent's responsibility to take care of you and your child you bum. Your child needs a father, are you going to move some bum guy into your parents house too for them to support? Time to pull your head out of your ass and grow up. Or are you going to go get knocked up by some guy who you don't even live with like a dumb slut?
Asker5 mo@staximus
a child being born to a financially stable mother who pays no rent and is babysat by loving grandparents
is better than being raised with a mother and father struggling to pay 2000 a month to be taken care of by daycare workers. Then another 2000 in rent.
because that 2000 in rent money can be well spent on the child.
Asker5 mo@staximus
[Try finding a guy who is not a bum]
sometimes a child does way better without a father.
Asker5 mo@staximus
I am DOING WHAT'S BEST FOR THE CHILD
My child is being raised by loving grandparents. I pay no rent so all that leftover money, I get to spend on my self and my child.
My child would suffer a lot more if it were to be raised by day care workers and wasting money on paying expensive rent.
That money I saved up from not paying rent, I can spend it on myself.
Asker5 momy child ain't suffering...
Asker5 mounlike American grandparents who hate caring for their grandkids.
my parents actually love their grandchild.
americans like you suck. you're a piece of selfish shit if you dont want to care for your grandkids
Asker5 mo@staximus
my parents don't see their grandchild as a burden
you must be a real shitty person to see your own grandchild as a burden.
I am an adult, likely make way more money than you.
A child born to you, would be way better without a father- 5 mo
Go find a good guy who is not a bum, move into his house, get married and have a kid, stay home with the kid for a couple years, then get your bum ass back to work while your parents watch the kid just like everybody else you parasite. Oh wait, nobody wants a lackadaisical manipulator like you so you want to have a fatherless bastard child.
