Do you Support executive order to nationally control AI policy?

I don't like sweeping executive orders anymore than I like how the Federal Reserve was created in the dark hours of the night... slid into existance. This is a national policy executive order on AI... greasing the wheels so the infastructure can be laid out, limiting state control. There are legit reasons to control and limit AI!

I'm not so sure on this, I favor limiting AI, but that isn't our reality in life is it? I understand it might be necessary to compete with China in AI. I am glad they are looking at it, maybe it's good, I cannot tell. It will be what it is...

But it shifts power to hands of central government... they won't push on everything they say, but much of it... will be greased so goes forward. And whom thus is making the decisions? They'd better make good policies, or else. That... I doubt

This... might be the end of life as we know it today, in fact, Id say that it is. We are enting a new world now...

It's a sad day that our govt is dysfunctional, does most everything by executive order. It might be necessary and maybe the policies made are good. We will find out. But it's not how it's supposed to work.

We’re well past the point that boycotts can control the giant corporations. Especially the tech giants. They have been permitted to steal our personal data and profit off of it for so long that even if everyone on the planet stopped buying the hardware and software they would still be making billions. Nothing can stop them now except government intervention. The US government, for now, can still be controlled through popular vote and disrupted by refusal to pay taxes. Of the two, of course i want the organization that CAN be controlled in control of the most potent technologies. Despite the fact that i am generally against government overreach, they are the lesser of two evils.

The Federal Reserve was created by Congress and not by Executive Order. It was created by the Federal Reserve Act of 1913.

The Federal Reserve serves a critical purpose in the US economy; basically, it helps de-politicize and stabilize the economy. Look at all the horseshit going on now that would be better if it was depoliticized. Congress was smart to invent that back then. This came in the same year (1913) as the 16th Amendment which also helped stabilize the American economy from panics and depressions.

That's true but it also shifts messes from one place to another. Take the 1998 bailout of LTCM. Instead of letting some gamblers go broke... they saved the system. 2008 same thing, etc etc.. it feeds crony capitalism... the rich get richer rather than losing everything.
It avoids depressions by causing other problems.
We aren't getting the down cycles, so the cycles build bigger and the crashes harder. In this case, the middle and lower class are being wiped out as the assets funnel into the hands of a few. That's also bad.

Politician fear AI because AI could act in interest of the people and this isn't acceptable for them because they deeply hate the pleb. AI doesn't has any emotions like politicians do.
For politicians is time before election all 4 years the worst imaginable moment, where they have to appease people who have to elect them. Of course they lie and lose credibility but they displace this on people who are electing them not on minorities who force them to betray majority of their electorate.

People are just animals and AI is just a script. A script will do better job in this case.

It would take legislation. Trump is removing bureaucratic regulation from the executive branch.
