That would be the end of NATO and the beginning of total isolation for the United States. The NATO countries would dump the US Treasury bonds and the interest rate on the national debt would soar to the point that we could not service the debt and would default. That would destroy the value of the dollar and we would see a depression like we have never seen before.

I really think that there's going to be some sort of deal... if the USA actually dares to do something, it will be just so they can exploit that oil and those minerals over there... the UK would be more than eager to get some of that as well

They can. The one military base in Greenland is part of our “Star Wars” defense system, or whatever they’re calling it now. The problem is that aside from that, and until yesterday, there was no military presence to protect that base. Despite the fact that Russia and China expanded their military presence into the arctic circle and China publicly announced its own designs on Greenland just a few years ago.
