The right to defend myself from anyone and everyone is maybe second only to everyone who preys upon children should die slowly and painfully. I’m going to try my hardest to not argue, despite the fact that i will almost certainly judge, harshly. I’m asking others to NOT argue or judge openly because i genuinely want to know why anti-gun people want to disarm law abiding citizens. Don’t bother to strawman or ad hominem. I will remove all responses that can’t stay on point. 100% of US firearms legislation written in the last century was aimed at disarming law abiding citizens who only want to protect themselves, their families and their property from criminals and a tyrannical government. Why do you want to take that right away from them?

Why do you want to take firearms away from law abiding citizens?
Anti gun advocates see the victims of CIVILIANS having firearms and being told it's "Ok to shoot someone if you FEAR FOR YOUR LIFE" which is hugely subjective and ought to see hundreds of thousands of "scary men" in graves because of women's irrational fear of men. It doesn't though, it sees thousands of victims many hundreds who are children, as the ones paying the price for "fearing for the lives" and people demanding the right to use lethal force against another because of their paranoia. Every other rational thinking nation has regard for rule of law over right to kill because "FFYL" and said NOPE, we value life above FFYL demands which aren't actually why the second amendment is about because the intent there was to allow the populace to defend AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT and NOT other civilians.
That the gun lobby refuse to acknowledge the elephant in the room that allows freedom of movement for firearms and the subsequent consequences of having zero checks and balances on ownership therefore allowing anyone who wants to get one to do so irrespective of their motivations is bananas. Still it's no surprise that the same country thinks that it can murder people in other countries so they can install puppets and at the same time repeatedly pardon actual criminals while having an obvious criminal as the head of state.
All that nonsense and you didn’t say a damn thing about ACTUAL criminals committing violent crimes and threatening lethal force by using guns. That’s the problem with your ideology. You are letting known violent felons run amok and do as they please because of your own paranoia. You think your neighbor who values the second amendment is a greater threat than the psychos and the gangs. Leading cause of gun deaths in the US is suicide, by a lot. Second leading cause is GANG violence. You let them do whatever they want to whomever they want. If you arrest them at all, they’re out without bond before their victims are even out of the hospital. Also, the second amendment has been challenged on the right to self defense and has been repeatedly upheld as THE constitutional marker for law abiding citizens defending themselves against criminals AND a tyrannical government.

Im a gun owner but im not from America though I live here. I hate to say it but if the US government turned tyrannical citizens with AR15s aren't going to bd able to do much.
In the uk taking guns was supposed to end gun crime and mass murder killings but they've continued at the same rate they always have. In the uk you can't use any weapon to defend yourself from attack. In the uk the law protects the criminal over the victim and police are more worried about arresting people over twitter comme ts than real crime.
Ultimately I think its about control and the erosion of culture and traditions.

The US military was considered far and away the world’s most advanced offensive force ahead of the conflict in Vietnam. Yet they failed by every metric. Anyone who thinks that the armed people of the USA “aren’t going to be able to do much” to defend themselves from anything short of blanket nuclear assault is delusional. Read some history books, friend.
Look at the casualties in the Vietnam war. Look at the TET offensive, a major defeat for the Vietcong, so bad in fact that they ceased to exist and the NVA had to come down from the north to take over. Also worth mentioning that without Soviet and Chinese money and arms thered have been no deployment of the US military and the ARVN would have handled it. What are armed people in the US really going to be able to do? In Afghanistan the taliban hid out in Pakistan for 20 years because they were getting shot to shit, these are the people that had bled the Red Army and sent them packing
There is NOBODY on Earth who considers the US’s involvement a “victory” by any measure. The most potent military force on the planet was beaten back by people who simply refused to give up. The people of Vietnam are nowhere nearly as armed and trained as the average 2A enforcer. You are deluded AND you have twice failed to answer the question.
The US military wasn't beaten back. In fact South Vietnam was still in ARVN hands in 1972 when the US military left, the north Vietnamese defeated the ARVN in 1975. The US military lost 47,000 men and the Vietnamese lost 3 million people North and South before it was over. The soviet union and Chinese had drained their resources and economies supporting the war. The US could have continued the war another 50 years easily until resistance ended, that is how in the past how tyrannical governments ended lesser armed defenders whether it be the British vs the zulus, the British vs boers, the British vs the Irish repeatly, the British the Scottish jacobites, the British vs the Indians, the British vs the Chinese... could go on all day and thats just the British. And those people were hard fighters but in the end they ran out of men resisting. Do you think the average American could match the will of those fighters?

Probably because it is extremely difficult to tell the difference between law-abiding citizens and the criminals until the criminals actually do some act that identifies them as criminals, in which case the tragedy is occurred and it's too late to fix it. Generally speaking, most criminals do not have the word criminal tattooed on their foreheads and they don't wear clothes signifying that they are a criminal.
That’s not exactly true. The US’s recidivism rates are generally high and consistent enough to effectively predict who will likely reoffend.

Blue zones are the worst. They literally create new laws that target law abiding citizens so that they can arrest people who build and modify their own guns. Then they turn around and let actual violent criminals out of jail without bond and don’t bother to confiscate their weapons or investigate where they acquire them illegally.
