It’s highly unlikely that Russia and China aren’t watching Greenland very closely. China announced designs on Greenland just a few years ago. Drumpf is goofy, but i don’t think he honestly wants to take over Greenland. Not unless US companies get the mineral rights. I just don’t think they will take on another welfare state under a republican administration. All his tough talk got troops sent to Greenland. So he effectively increased national security without lifting a finger or spending a dime. It’s genius, actually. It will be interesting to see if he continues to push the issue though.

You got so much wrong. First, the Australian government doesn’t own anything. An Australian company has SOME mining rights, but their bids showed massive pollution risks to the land and the locals. So they’ve put a moratorium on their digging. Rather than cleaning up their act, ETM is suing Greenland for the right to pollute. Top notch digs you got there. You must be so proud.
There’s plenty of other resources that can be tapped.
Greenland successfully petitioned for independence years ago and Denmark conceded. However, the Greenlanders haven’t put meaningful effort into establishing the local infrastructure to be self sufficient. It’s literally a welfare state. Which is why the Danes didn’t put up a fight. If Greenland doesn’t get their poop in a group, they have no choice but to be ruled by others.
