Now the EU, notably through France, is considering using the anti-coercion system.
This divides the Western camp, and China will undoubtedly see this as an opportunity if it is confirmed.

Europe today is a shitty allie. They have let theirselves go weak and shifting the full burden on the defense to the US while spitting in our face much of the time. They now import millions of muslims and in a few generations those morons will have access to nuclear weapons and will likely use them against Israel. Germans won’t even fight to protect their own country per a recent poll. They have lost their balls. Russia would be a better alliance partner in the future. Now Russia will break off pieces of Europe like the Baltic States. And the US will take Greenland in the west, perhaps more such as Iceland.
The US says Greenland is needed for Defense. The US that defends all of Western Europe but they say no. Then the few that live there say no. We won’t mortgage our safety for the feelings of 56,000 Greenlanders. And Denmark can’t protect that island as they are weak, small and do not invest in the defense of Greenland. Fuck your feelings. You don’t get to keep it just because some people from Denmark sailed there in old wooden ships hundreds of years ago. They didn’t get the consent of the Greenlanders either.
But yes, China and Russia win in this scenario. So does the US though. Trump tried to end Nato but it was reversed. Now if the Europeans end Nato then that is that and Democrats can’t fix it. :D
It would have been better if Nato and a new Asian Nato including Australia would have come into place but the Europeans are weak and cheap cowards so this is the way we will go.
If Trump's idiocies destroy NATO, Europe will simply reactivate the WEU. It's not that difficult to form a new structure without the United States, when we have a combined 1,5 million soldiers on active duty.

Nato letting usa carry the defense was by design for profit motivation. Over time the inflation of a monopoly seller gets old. You are already subscribed to prime but you need to buy a dozen upgrades to get the original sales pitch. For a modern everyday simile.
The military industrial complex enshittification of nato is a real danger to national security. Lets put it that way.
@DryGermanGuy Have at it, we don’t care. And Germany still doesn’t have a single combat ready division. And then there is the sad point that only 32% of Germans would fight for their country even if invaded.
www.stripes.com/.../...fighting-poll-13372620.html
We have between eight and ten active divisions across all armed forces. Which is rather normal, given that we have been deployed to several conflicts in the last 25 years. Germany just established a new brigade in Lithuania, the first outside of the mainland. So, I guess we are doing quite okay for now.
@DryGermanGuy Your commander of German forces in 2024 I believe said that you do not have a single combat ready division and would work to get one by 2030. A lot of your equipment does not work, he gave some info on that too. If i must, Incan see if I can find that set of comments from him. But what good is it if the majority of your population won’t fight. Your grandfathers would be ashamed.
yes, Trump is forcing change and negotiation which pushes others into the hands of the waiting bird catcher. China is smart and patient.
Its not really good, Canada will get creamed using chinese cars long term, EU too. but it will be ok for a while.
Challenging times.
US suffers because we are forced to consume our junk products like our milk and cheese and butter as EU prices go up. Blech... I still buy Irish and UK foods at high prices since they aren't awful like the junk we produce from Wisconsin.
But EU car... ugh, I really don't want to own one as so expensive.
All this behavior... call it excessively aggressive... is costing us.. USA, and hard to fix.
A full-blown trade war will also cause significant damage to the European Union. But obviously to the US as well.
Europeans will feel forced to turn to China, the only power capable of offering digital services that are practically on a par with those in the US.
Honestly, Trump's behaviour is incomprehensible. He can send as many soldiers as he wants to Greenland without having to invade and start a trade war against his allies.
that's true, this needs brought before larger body of USA. I could agree with "we need greenland, I don't agree with the timing and urgency and approach.
Trump is screwing himself. He's often right, and he's the one sitting at the table witha lot of information we don't have. But it's "a bridge too far", too much too fast, and a poison pill to himself what he's doing.
Normal trump but not good.
Trump is a lot like having to take some bitter medicine the USA has needed, but sometimes it's too much and could kill the patient.

To be honest... about Donald Trump...
What he *always* does, from tariffs to treaties, is start out with a blustering hard line, then he negotiates downward. And time and time again, the tariffs have ended up reduced or even rescinded, in exchange for concessions from the other nation (s). Empirical evidence of this was his first term 2017-2020. "The Donald" may be crude and crass and oafish, but by gum, he gets results.
And so it will likely be with the Greenland treaties. I predict that in the end, Greenland will stay Danish, the USA will get the base (s) it wants on the terms it wants, and life (and the NATO alliance) will go on.
Moreover, those bases are intended to keep an eye on Putin, and the same people finding fault with Trump's hardball negotiation strategy were previously accusing him of being soft on Putin. You can't square that circle...
But enough of that. How about those Seahawks?
You understand that the damage Trumpism creates, is permanent? American farmers have lost 100% of the soybean exports to China, who buys from Brasil, etc. now. The little cooperation that existed with Iran under Obama, is gone. The lives lost in Ukraine, because Trump wouldn’t even sell them air defense rockets, won’t come back. Now he wants to damage the FED. Trump is a chaos machine, nothing more.
If the Supreme Court rules against Trump's tariffs this month as expected, this threat will make Trump look very stupid. Canada and the US used to be friends but this week Canada signed a deal with China to allow China to sell cars in Canada and agreed to continue to expand trade. Probably the final nail in the coffin on that relationship. Last month Trump wanted to start trade discussions but Canada said, "No thanks" and sided with China. If the US wants to act like this, the rest of the world has no choice but to trade with China and the shift to China is well underway. Ten years ago almost all trade was in US dollars but because of Trump's trade war, China has started to emerge as a leader in processing international trade transactions through CIPS which grew substantially in 2025. Which means an increasing amount global trade was conducted in Yen instead of US dollars indicating a shift away from $US.
The military industrial complex enshittification of nato is a real danger to national security.
The ultimate reason why end stage capitalism fucking sucks.
Invoking the anti-coercion system would be a bad idea. The EU is largely irrelevant on the world stage today, and far too dependent on the US for security. Even lowly France is smart enough to see how bad and idea it would be to piss off its greatest ally right now.
You French need to get your shit together and become relevant. Then you will have some bargaining power. Until then, be smart with the little you have. Don't do something stupid and end up regretting it.
If so, I HOPE he deported al the loony lefties over there where they belong (I KNOW they'd LOVE IT there!!!) so we can FINALLY live in peace, over here!!!
Yes! Trump is that dumb and destructive. He equally tariffs Ukraine, but not Russia!
Since pussy anonymous deleted my reply, here is the article again about the French administration taking the lead in establishing retaliatory measures against Trump:
www.theguardian.com/.../europe-diplomats-crisis-talks-trump-tariffs-greenland
Trump and Putin deserve each other
No. The EU has been making deals with china and has allowed china to buy up their industries. Volvo & MG for instance are Chinese owned car companies now.
I think we should dump NATO. We should form a new mutual defense agreement between the ASEAN nations, Australia, South Korea New Zealand and Japan.
Not that can see.
Trump just given the EU a gift. The incentive not to commit suicide.
Europe can go ahead and hitch its wagon to China at its own peril.
