If the United States/Trump tries to buy Greenland, doesn't Congress have to approve the funding?

I think Congress will not approve any funds since the American people think Trump has totally lost his mind about Greenland and going against our allies.

Yes he needs approval. He also needs Greenland to agree to sell and that's not going to happen because the overwhelming majority don't want to be Americans. Greenland likes being a part of Denmark who is consistently considered the happiest country in the world year after year. It will remain with Europe. Geographically it doesn't make sense for China and it doesn't match their long term objectives which they've made very clear. The US can't afford it. The EU threated to sell US bonds over the weekend and it spiked the 10 year bond which means the $200B that Trump to buy mortgage bonds and lower rates was just wiped out in 4 hours and mortgage rates are back to where they were a week ago. The EU has the upper hand in financial warfare here and is showing today that they aren't afraid to use it. If this escalates and Asia joins the bond selloff, the US will be in a financial crisis that will last at least a decade.

Largely will depend of the price and if its in US intrests. Remember when Congress approved the Louisiana purchase and the alaska purchase, the florida purchase, Gadsden Purchase? America would have only been maybe 13 states without these purchases.

They would have to approve the funding, but every member of Congress knows good and well that they'd be insane not to give it. If Trump were able to secure a chance to get Greenland without military engagement, that would be too big an opportunity to pass up

No one disputes the tactical and monetary benefit of Greenland. And no one in Congress would get enough political currency from opposing the purchase.

No - congressional approval for funding has gone right out the window. Trump just invaded Venezuela and that cost a lot of money. And he didn't have to get Congress' approval for it. Basically, at this point, Congress ignores Trump, and the Supreme Court has given Trump essentially the ability to do almost anything he wants without any consequences. Our Congress is literally afraid of Trump.
