Which do you prefer Nuclear energy or renewable energy?

Renewable is dangerous to the environment. Wind farms kill birds. Solar panels can break in extreme weather and release inorganic stuff. Also it does not work so it increases electricity bills.

Nuclear is fine however it needs to be disposed of underground, deep deep underground.

Nuclear is the better option, fission is what we currently have, and fusion is what they are working for. Fusion doesn't have the same risks of run away reactions with a nuclear melt down, doesn't have the spent radioactive waste to deal with and it doesn't have the radioactive dangers.

Fusion would be the cleanest energy option available.

I actually prefer nuclear energy, because if it is done properly, it is a lot safer for the environment. Historically, the problem is that it is almost never done well, and it is done for profit rather than for durability, And nuclear accidents are a complete disaster.

France got it right. maybe sign an international treaty to have it highly regulated such as underground disposal. No natural disasters nearby etc.

In the United States, you cannot build things like nuclear reactors safely because contracting and building is so corrupt that it's almost certain that contractors will take shortcuts that will not be discovered until the disaster occurs. There is literally nobody you can trust to build anything complicated here in the US safely.

Germany reaches 65% renewables on many days of the year, with energy prices back to pre-Ukraine war levels. Iceland is now 100% renewable energy. Sweden, Norway and Denmark are in the 90% area. So yes, renewable energy works.

In my view it's a moot point at this time. For many years, nuclear was considered the boogy man. Now our survival depends on the race to the top of the AI game. Traditional missiles fly on a fixed trajectory that can be anticipated. Hypersonic missiles can change their mind halfway through flight. There's no way humans could predict where that missile will land.
A quantum computer along with AI can consider every possibility simultaneously. So King Trump is allowing Bill Gates and his pals to build their own nuclear reactors to power their data centers. So whether or not nuclear is the Boogeyman or not, it doesn't even matter.

@kavakava AI uses so much energy that it causes problems so they need their own power stations. That and data centers. Disposing of nucearl is the problem

I always get fusion and fission mixed up, but I guess with one of those you can make electricity from water. They said a bathtub filled with water would provide all the energy needs for a family of four for one year.
But then Ted Danson will say we're draining the oceans or something.

If it is done right, nuclear power is a safe, efficient and dependable source of electricity. As long as the company does not cut corners and cheap out on the staffing and safety protocols.

Yeah, you read incorrectly. To generate enough energy from nuclear methods to give you the energy you will consume over your entire lifetime produces the amount of nuclear waste equivalent to a soda can. Storing that waste underground is extremely effective and safe.
