Do you reminisce on the last decent decade in US history?

I miss the 2000s so very much, all the way up until about 2008. After that, everything went to absolute shit so bad, such that now I feel I live in a dystopian nightmare.

These were the days before economic turmoil (before 08 of course), the all-consuming big-tech disruption, and before the woke/PC garbage ruined everything. Not everything had to be politically motivated either.

Life was a bit more simpler back then and more laid back. You had cool tech but knew when to take a break and play outside with adventure and friends. Exploring the backyard, the creeks, riding bikes, making trails in the backyard woods... some examples.

This is before everyone lost their ever fucking minds. There was still decorum and manners. No AI face recognition when you walk into Walmart. No leftist mobs burning down businesses, terrorizing their neighbors, and barging into churches to berate congregants. That shit didn't fly back then, and if kids and teens participated in that, their asses would be beat. Adults were actually more like adults, and boy scouts were actually the BOY Scouts for the boys. Kids were actually able to be kids without trying to indoctrinate them with sexually/developmentally inappropriate shit. Drag queens performances in school would have been an outright national outrage.

You could crack jokes back then that are now offensive to hypersensitive snowflakes.

Most of all, I miss my family being together and when family actually meant something. Now, this whole "boundaries" movement and family members blocking one another even just something ridiculous as a political disagreement... it is all disheartening to say the least.

Not really. I was a little kid back then so I didn't know anything anyway. It's better to look back fondly while moving forward in happily that it is to wish for something you can't get back.

You've lost the plot somewhere. "The left" and "woke" is not why everything sucks, if you believe that you're taking the conservative sphere propaganda too much to heart. What really happened is the rich got richer, and the rest got squeezed slightly harder and harder over time. Corporations ruin everything, they ruined the Internet too. Now that they've commodified the Internet and designed a system to keep you addicted, everything feels way worse. They sell you a negativity loop that your brain is addicted to. Everything slowly got more expensive, while corporations and top richest people have never had it so good.

Our politicians continue their tradition of telling you that your enemy is your neighbor who thinks or values differently than you, and if you just vote for them, they'll stomp on your neighbor and help you win... somehow? But it's a lie, meant to keep you from asking why a small percentage of the population hold more wealth than the vast majority, to keep you from realizing everybody's material conditions can and should be better. To keep you from realizing their are pedophile blackmail rings with control over all the most wealthy and powerful people on the planet. So when the files on that all get exposed, you feel like just ignoring it and giving them a pass to keep ruining the world.

If you keep falling into the trap of wanting to grant the government more power, and taking power away from ordinary citizens because you disagree with them, that's only going to help things worsen. It's a classic trope called divide and conquer, and they do.

You are not wrong, really. It is elitism that is rotten on both sides. As of today, the average everyday American is still being fucked with no lube as daily essentials stretch everyone thin. It is only slightly better in the fact we don't have the sociopolitical propaganda and identity politics the left was shoving down everyone's throats to make life more painful. That, and no more social engineering and infiltration of illegal aliens/foreigners. But really with all that stripped away, it still seems hopeless. I actually side with Marjorie Taylor Greene in the fact that MAGA hasn't materialized as we hoped.

Everything since then has been a consistent, downward, spiral into third world pestilence.
It started with the Immigration Act of 1965.

I saw the rise of the freaks a bit sooner but close enough. I say in the last half of the 90s it started. I remember becoming sick of liberals and their infectious disease in about 96.

I graduated high school and did 3 tours in iraq and Afghanistan. Some bad times, some of the best times as well. 2006 swimming in the gisnt pool of mansion owed by one of Sadam's henchman
