My age. 1 million now will be as 100 million going into retirement years hiring a fiduciary while also paying bills now. It's modest but easy.
50 years old would be the breaking point of the gamble. The power of compound intrest is considered the most powerful force in the universe.
I got half a million late 2023 from my parents passing away 2021. It's only just now growing in value.
That don liberation day tarrif last March cost me $80,000 in one day. When I made at most $34,000 in a year before.
It gets spooky playing around with that money. Find a "fiduciary" and not some other financial advisor. They take a cut from the top of the money being made. So the more money they make you the more they take home. Win win.
Compared to other financial advisor who take cuts to transaction fees. Make bad deals get paid more regardless of outcomes.
I'd push the green button for the sure thing. A million bucks would do me nicely. I could pay off my mortgage and HELOC, as well as the $7k I owe on the only credit card I use, which has a 1% interest rate. I could pay my sister money I have owed her for years + a bonus. I could finish off the interior of my 2 story, steel garage. And I would still have well over a half a million $ to do improvements and upgrades on my house.
50/50. Million isn't really that much
It isn't if you're in the top half of society net worth I'd say. I think that was kind of the point of this question. Not that I'm judging anyone. We're all doing the best we can with what we know and the opportunities we have. But if you have no real retirement to speak of and are moderately to deeply in debt a million looks like a fortune. And it is in a way of speaking. Because the avg. Person doesn't come upon a million every day. Or even in years realistically. Also age is a factor. You're either greedy for your age, live in a high standard of living, or something I'd say. Because 10k is a lot to someone your age generally. 20 or 30 years. Later and you're going to have made a half million to a million easy. And how much you've been able to hang onto is going to strongly color your answer to this question. Or at least that's the way I see it.
Green and then I’d invest it.

Tough question. Play it safe, or take a gamble. I'll take the coin flip for 100 million. I already have money, so even if I get nothing out of it, I'd still be okay. Might as well go for the bigger fish
Coin flip. the effective return is 50,000,000. Which is better than 1 mil
I pick the green one. A bird in the hand and all that.
I would take the second option. The expectation is $50 million. I would sell it for $45 million or whatever I could get.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I'll take the green button.
Green button takes care of my student loans and a house, so that.
Red. I couldn’t resist.
Slamming green no question
I'm hitting the green button
Green
