When was the last time America was great?

So this is for the MAGA crowd. I am honestly curious when you think was the last time America was great prior to DJT?

I think the obsession with assuming any country is or was great is ridiculous. What we can say as Americans, if we're being honest, is that, for us to prosper we had to do terrible things to the natives, which they didn't deserve.

Human history is brutal everywhere around the world and remember the first people after the natives were not Americans that you think of today. They came over from many European countries. If you're from. European country, they were mainly your ancestors.

After brutally killing natives and enslaving people for years, I think we started to evolve a little bit better, to try to treat all people as humans and equals on paper.

Of course there's always people that didn't like this, and till this day they don't. The idea of what America can be is great. I think there's always been bad things done in the name of politics and governments all over the globe. One could argue 2016 is a marker of when we took a step backwards and became more hateful towards each other than ever. Blame it on whatever you want but propaganda is killing us and making us weaker. Hate is also making us weaker.

So my point is it's cocky to call yourself great. Only your peers get to tell you if you're great or not otherwise it's just self proclaimed. I don't know when we were ever great but I do think many Americans have strived to make our country better over the years. Hopefully one day we can all unanimously and justifiably be proud of who we are. We're not there yet.

As bad as things are now I have faith we are going to be stronger for it and better after this administration and their entire political generation is gone.

They think America was "great" in some fantasy that never actually existed where White Men had privilege and didn't have to compete on a level playing field. A fantasy where women were basically house slaves with no money and no property rights. A fantasy where they were "better than" other people simply by virtue of their "Whiteness". A time when all the movies were about White fantasy families starring White actors and actresses. An innocent naive Hollywood version of a life filled with perfect houses and perfect wives and perfect jobs and perfect children and Christmas and all White neighborhoods. Everyone had a job and and the kids were all doing great in school. There was no alcoholism, no drug addiction, no cancer, and fat people were jolly not dying from heart disease and diabetes at 50. And they never had to acknowledge what life was like for women, minorities, or immigrants.

Whenever people could drink and drive and if you needed to sleep it off you were good and the police would jump your car and a guy with a ged could support a family of 3. When we didn't have mass anxiety problems... Like that used to get you sent to a hospital.

Even though this is later the guy who invented the pcr test while tripping balls and driving and then brandished a gun at work and didn't go to jail. That's freedom.
