As a left-leaning libertarian, what’s the Democratic Party’s state in 2026? It looks chaotic—what are their positions, platform, values, and leaders?

They've lost site. The agenda has gotten completely away from anything resembling liberalism of 2-3 decades ago.

The same thing has happened to the Republican Party. They haven't gone off in a completely different direction like the Democrats, but their focus has shifted.

BOTH parties have gotten away from what used to be the battleground. They've both lost site of the middle, which is what wins or loses elections. They've both created a core agenda and ignored anyone who doesn't fall into one neat package.

MOST Americans are not on the far right or far left. I'm not talking about outliers, they are not relevant. I'm talking about mainstream left and right. Most people are somewhere in the middle, and both parties are neglecting them. Within Congress, its even worse where anyone who does not carry the party line is an outcast. And THAT is total bullshit. Why the hell should anyone from either party go against what they believe in and support just because the party leadership pressures them to?

That's an excellent question. The main problem the Democratic Party has in the US is that they don't really have positions, platforms and leaders. They spend mist of their time complaining about what others do. Their reported leaders are Bernie Sanders and AOC, both Socialists, but not all Democrats buy into that.

Modern democrats have no platform. Their entire ideology is TDS. If Drumpf is in favor of anything, democrats reflexively oppose it. Despite their own party pushing for the exact same things in the very recent past. If Drumpf is opposed to anything, they reflexively endorse it.
There is no platform. The majority of democrat party is all about hating Drumpf. Nothing more and nothing less. I know of only one reasonable democrat who hasn’t changed his party yet. The rest have completely lost the plot.

It is indeed bleak, but I personally have my eye on Jacob Frey, the current mayor of Minneapolis. From what I’ve observed in the past few weeks, Frey is intelligent, outspoken, kind, compassionate, brave and (to me) insanely good looking. To add to that, he’s a former civil rights’ attorney so yeah, he truly gives a damn about people. He’s too charismatic to stay in local government. We need him in Congress or higher. I think he’s AWESOME. ❤️
