It is indeed really weird that some journalists and pundits still cover current US politics as normal republicans vs. democrats politics.

Neutral is fine at times when most parties more or less revolve around the status quo. Being neutral is impossible when fascism is rising. If one remains proudly neutral right now, he/she is not paying attention.

On top of that is the epidemic of self-professed "free-thinkers" who conform to the good-looking, cynical idea that taking sides is inherently stupid, while being "neutral" (or, at least, make it seem like you are) is systematically smart.

Cynism won't do much for them when a loved one is taken away for suspected anti-trump activities.

Exactly. What's the "neutral" position between "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects," and we can enter and search any property if we pretend we think there's an illegal immigrant in it without "probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized"?

A lot of The Right is reactionary.

There are students dressed like cats using litterboxes in bathrooms (not true), They’re eating the dogs, they’re eating the cats, they’re eating they’re eating the pets of the people that live there (not true), windmills cause cancer (not true), and they are escaping from insane asylums (not true).

It mainly translates to, “I don’t understand what’s going on, I want someone to tell me its okay to rage, complain, bitch, moan about everything without having to put in real effort to make the whole thing make sense or educate me on what’s actually happening in the real world”.

The problem, in this case, is people pretending to be "centrist" and saying, say, Universal Basic Income and putting people who are legally in the country in concentration camps both have their pros and cons. Universal health care and shooting citizens... Defending the first, second and fourth amendments and ignoring them if they're inconvenient... It's basically bothsiderism.

@goaded I know we can’t afford to be neutral when things are happening everyday and we need to be more involved in our Democratic process. I hope 2024 gets people to the polls not just 26 and 28, but every year after to say no to kings and oligarch sympathizers.

    So not centrism at all?
Like the rest of those: "I am politically neutral, I just love hitler and hate the left".

I guess the main reason for this is, that real centrist conservatives got older. So every single left progressive opinion is considered too left for them and even their old neutral is now a right-wing opinion.

Its not necessarily about left vs right for them but progressiveness is not what they want. They want total standstill where nothing changes.

But yes, the main "I am centrist" are just right wingers who disagree even with conservatist becauxe they are more right wing than them. Thats their "middle ground".

What, is this the new right wing approach to avoiding reality, post music videos? Pathetic, especially from someone who pretends he can't tell the difference between aggressor and victim if the victim fights back legally.

Let's just get this clear, you know that, for example, people who are legally in the US are being locked up 70 to a cell for months on end by Republicans, but say Democrats are the same?

You know that Republicans in Texas gerrymandered their election maps for 2026 explicitly to win 5 more seats for Republicans and Trump, and say that California asking their voters if it's OK for them to gerrymander their election maps for 2026 explicitly to win 5 more seats for Democrats in response is the same?

You know that Trump has appointed RFK Jr. as health secretary, and the country is experiencing massive outbreaks of measles because of low vaccination levels, but say Democrats are the same?

You know that Trump is raking in bribe money hand over fist and openly selling pardons, but say Democrats are the same?

      That's willful ignorance.

The Supreme Court allowed both states to do exactly the same thing...

which is to "redraw" the electoral map to give advantage to themselves and take away the voting power from the rivals

both sides just neutralized the individual choice of the people effectively, for the next 10 years or so

both sides of politicians just NEUTRALIZED choice for the people, in order to keep their control

both states... are doing the same exact thing, for the exact same result

"The Supreme Court allowed both states to do exactly the same thing..." They had no choice, once they'd allowed Texas to cheat, not expecting a Democratic state to retaliate. You're also avoiding the obvious point that the side that starts shit like this is worse than the side that responds.

This is how you're a perfect example of Reactionary Centrism, pretending not to see the differences.

In addition to the concentration camps, unprovoked gerrymandering, anti-public-health policies, open bribery and corruption I listed above, Trump is threatening to take over elections in states he lost, withholding funds from Democratic states, refusing to host Democratic governors for a meal, and generally dividing the country. Biden's infrastructure bill, on the other hand, send MORE money to RED states, because they were the ones that needed it most.

All the honest fingers point in exactly one direction. Yours point equally in both.

so... that would make you a "Screw me, but not harder than the Right screws me, Leftist"?

because you sure are the perfect example of that

never willing to see ANY wrong from your side, but to always point out the bad on the other side...

there's another word for that, but I won't say it... lol

You saying "never willing to see ANY wrong from your side" would make you a liar. What did Biden do wrong? He appointed an AG who wasn't willing to go after Trump for his attempt to steal the presidency. He didn't expand the SCOTUS to avoid presidents being given carte blanche to legally sell pardons and have political opponents killed. He supported Israel in Gaza.

Why don't you tell me what Obama or Biden did that was comparable to Trump's Jan 6 attack, concentration camps, unprovoked gerrymandering, anti-public-health policies, open bribery and corruption, threatening to take over elections in states he lost, withholding funds from Democratic states, refusing to host Democratic governors for a meal, and generally dividing the country?
