Loyalty to a political label or party.
Why do people have to attach themselves to a herd and believe everything the herd believes? It's a form of primitive tribalism.
A member of tribe hears that someone is a member of another tribe, automatically makes assumptions about them without actually knowing their opinions on individual issues, and immediately hates them. There's a word for that: bigotry.
Both parties promote that tribalism and it is causing more and more hatred and division. People who are supposed to be leading this country are tearing it apart.
