What do you think of the nurses in Florida getting fired because they threatened people whose politics differ from theirs on TikTok?

There have been two incidents that i am aware of. One outright refused to give anesthesia to conservatives, and another made an ominous threat suggesting she would do something to the patient while paralyzed.

As someone who is an RN, who swore an oath to help people no matter who they are, this kind of behavior coming from health professionals is sickening. I think loss of license and loss of job is a good punishment, and perhaps blacklisting from the profession.

For those complaining about free speech. Imagine running a hospital, and the insurance you have to maintain, which costs in the millions. Now imagine you have a doctor, or nurse threatening patients on social media or tiktok. That nurse becomes a liability. The insurance on the hospital could be canceled, and the results of that would mean shutting the hospital down.

threatening to not use anesthesia or threatening to do someone while they are under anesthesia, is not just wrong, its monstrous, and its cowardice. Do better.

Nurses and doctors take the Hippocratic oath, which essentially means they help all patients. Anyone who limits what they do because of how they feel about a patient violates that oath and should be fired and have their license to practice removed.

Politics should never be part of medical care.

Refusal to give anesthetic to a conservative was a violation of that conservative's civil rights. It is not unreasonable to call that a hate crime. The threat is not a violation of law. But the hospital administration should discipline that nurse and maybe fire her.

Fired, as I said to 888 down below. Hospitals need to maintain malpractice insurance. Having someone on your staff making public threats like that is grounds for not only terminating the insurance, but blacklisting the hospital. Meaning it would be required to shut its doors. So termination and loss of license at the very least is warranted.

I'm a health care provider. My political preferences and opinions always stay outside the treatment room. I do not discuss politics with patients, and I don't care about their politics. They're patients, which means they get treatment and care.

I will also point out that in war, health care providers care for all belligerents who are injured during the war. It doesn't matter which side they're on. Once injured and in need of help, they become patients, and that is what matters. We save lives, and we reduce or eliminate suffering. We do not kill people or injure them.

I agree with it. No patient could ever feel comfortable seeing a caregiver who might want to do them harm just for having different opinions than they do. The liability insurance is also a major factor. The first lawsuit from a patient who has a complication after being treated by one of these providers when the possibility of deliberate harm is on the table could make premiums extremely expensive.

As someone who has been in the medical profession for 20 years, I understand intimately how they work, unlike you. You have to carry malpractice insurance. If you have nurses and doctors on staff who state publicly that they will harm patients if said patients have any kind of politics that differ from theirs (left or right i could care less), which they did, One said they would refuse to use anesthesia, and one threatened to kill or other wise harm patients when they went under, That is cause, if the hospital fails to remove them, for the insurance company to render the hospital uninsurable. Now kids, what happens when the insurance company says they can't do business with you any more? You get black listed, NO insurance company will insure you any more. Now kids what happens when a hospital is no longer able to get insurance? It has to shut its doors. causing hundreds of people to lose their jobs, and potentially thousands of patients to lose their care providers.

Average hospital has hundreds of employees, So you're telling me that we should value the one's precious freedom of speech, causing thousands of people to lose care and hundreds of people to lose their jobs? Dont be stupid. The needs of the many, FAR exceed the needs of the one, Its not protected speech when you're threatening people at their most vulnerable.

Additionally, medical professionals take an oath when they graduate college to FIRST DO NO HARM. But again you're too obtuse to understand that too. For someone who is almost 60, you're definitely not the brightest bulb in the package.

The court of law might sentence them to death later and in this case the prison personnel will carry out the sentence. But it is not the purpose of medical personnel to deal death.
