Just had a bad experience using public transportation how do people deal with it?

I wanted to save some money on parking so i decided to take the public train man was that a huge mistake there was some crazy lunatic talking to himself and me i literally though this guy was going to stab me or someone it immediately reminded me of that poor girl stabbed on the North Carolina train last year. Im never taking public transport again i rather just pay the parking then deal with this BS again. How do others deal with this?

I could tell you DOZENS of bus stories but, in most cases, it's to do with them being extremely late, never showing or making me late for stuff because they caused me to miss my connection that SHOULD'VE got me where I was going in plenty of time but I was stuck having to wait an hour for the next one.
There were a FEW cases of assholes and weirdos, though! One in particular that stands out was, I was on a bus trying to get home one afternoon and, I usually like to sit in the last seat because I'm quite tall and need the leg room but, as that seat was taken by a short Mexican guy, I sat in a sideways seat near him. He's wearing green satin shorts and had a large black moustache. He reminded me a lot of Sadam Hussein. At first, I never paid any attention to him until something caught my eye and I looked at him. He was staring at me rather intently and then I noticed his right hand was inside his shorts and he appeared to be beating off or at least playing with himself and it looked, to me, like I was his object of desire!! My stop came not long after that so, I have no idea if he came or not.
Most often, I never have any issues with buses or the people on them.

I spent most of my career building and maintaining public rail transit Yes, there are some undesirable situations but they are a minority. Overall, public transportation is safe and efficient.

Do you stop shopping at your favorite store because if one bad experience? Or put your favorite restaurant on your banned list because one server was rude to you?

I'm sorry you had a bad experience on a train. Did you think of moving away from the guy, nearer to other people. There is better safety in numbers.

Was worse in the 80s. I remember when I was a kid. Part of living in a big city.

I haven't used public transport in years. But when I've used it in the past, I didn't have any problems on the transport itself. But bus stations can have a lot of questionable people hanging around. That's especially true in long distance stations like a Greyhound station you find yourself in in the middle of the night. I've had the same thing happen in Amtrak stations when I had overnight layovers. A lot of those stations are in parts of town that are deserted in the middle of the night.

I just drive, honestly. I used to get public transport into the city, but realistically, it's just getting more and more dangerous.

Alas, driving won't necessarily preclude you from bad experiences, either.

Especially as local authorities make it more and more difficult to drive and park in the centre. So you have to park in sketchy slightly out of the centre car parks. You can't win, really.

I was going downtown and the building did not allow firearms at all. But after today's ordeal im seriously considering getting a firearm license i do have some experience with shotguns from a family member but never actually tried a handgun yet.

I use public transportation (trams and trains) often. I rarely remember any problems. Even our buses have security cameras now and the federal police is quick to react.

Im not surprised you live in Germany people over there are just more friendly and respectful I have been to Europe before and much safer there. Don't get me wrong America is a beautiful country but some parts of it especially democrat run cities are extremely dangerous and much more crazy people here.

I have not taken public transportation in years. We have the oldest subway system in the world and the cars are so old they hired a blacksmith to make parts for them.
