I think luck more than smarts has a lot to do with getting rich or being born into it. While there are lots of billionaires who got their start from being smart to figure out how to become rich, there are a lot of athletes, musicians, actors, models, etc, who got rich off talent or looks and not really smarts. Not saying that there aren't smart athletes or actors or singers or models, but they don't have to fully rely on their smarts to get ahead, it's their talent or looks.

I think it’s about willingness to take risks. I read a story about a guy who was in prison and came up with a brilliant idea. He was buying up Internet domains before anyone else thought to buy them. (Just the names)

It's hard for really smart people to become rich because they think about risk too much. If you want to be rich you just have to go for it. You business plan doesn't have to be perfect before you start, you just have to start. Smart people want everything perfect before they start and overthink. They have plenty of executable ideas that would be highly profitable but the problem is they are smart enough to see all the pitfalls and it holds them back.

People who are stupid that get rich either have connections and statistically will take more risk and not give up as fast. Most people that make money without a skill set do it by screwing others over
