That's a lot of regulation. I agree with some of it but not all. As an adult if you can't regulate your own consumption of social media then you have big issues. I do wholeheartedly agree with provisions to protect minors. To me that is the one area where there does need to be oversight. I'm not sure how much there should be. Time will tell with different countries trying different controls and bans regarding minors and the amount of social media they are allowed to consume or be exposed to. That has yet to hit where I live and to be honest is going to be a tough sell for most of my country. That's not to say I don't agree with the logic or premise to do so but I don't see it happening on a wide scale anytime soon. It would not effect me anyhow given my age and the fact that I use social media very little anymore

You gotta regulate content for adults too. Stupidity has no age. Especially in a world where literacy and critical thinking capacity is on the strong decline and social media account is sort of mandatory.

I'll give you an example : I told my coworker at my first job I don't do Instagram, I just got rid of it. I sometimes read Substack essays and that's all social media I've ever done.

We never became friends. Because not having Instagram is a stigma is adult world. Go figure. It means you're difficult and childish and abnormal

I'm not sure how your example of one person not being your friend because of your lack of Insta constitutes a ban or regulation for everyone else that does not think that way.

I'm telling you most people care about your social media presence. You gotta have one ID on the mainstream platforms. My brother has one for Snap, Insta, you name it, he has it.

He's quite sincere, which always helps, but one day if he wakes up and decides he's had enough, he's closing his accounts, it'll cost him some if not all friends. He'll be an outcast to some extent.

Not having an ID in 2020s is the 90s equivalent of being a virgin above the age of 22. People just look at you different because you won't conform. Millennials did partying and drugs, to avoid that stigma, nowadays teens do the same by keeping their Instagram ID like some exclusive club, where they have 800 followers, the ID is privated and real photos exist in story highlights to show they care about fitting in but they are too cool about it.

What you are telling me are two very specific and personal examples. One is a coworker and the other is your brother. From this you are extrapolating it to blanket "most people".

Ya already know my opinion. The idea of such regulations is absurd, 99% is done to undermine freedom of speech and our personal usage. 'Oh no but think of the harm it causes.' yeah well that's the cost of freedom, freedom leads to good and bad consequences naturally.
Oppressive control pretends a lead to good but only does bad.
Which would I rather have?
