Do people secretly notice and talk about you more than you think?

Meaning you might think you're invisible around certain people and then you'll find out that you're not, or you'll say something to the person next to you, and you didn't even think the person next to them heard it but they let you know they did, or some people will say to you I heard you did this or got this, like you're a topic of conversation and gossip and such

Yeah, I'm generally oblivious to it and don't give it much thought but last night, I got a few reminders that I get noticed more than I'd ever guess.

1.) A woman sitting next to me on my right kept trying to get me to talk. I was doing my usual one sentence answers. She asked me to try her drink. At some point she just rips off where I sit, who I talk to, my introverted nature, and how I dress. Apparently she'd seen me there quite a bit and had been cataloguing my behavior. I was surprised. I'd never noticed her and had no idea she ever paid any attention to me.

2.) A married woman who I do talk to frequently spouted out to a friend of mine who had just said something naughty about me...

"I thought he was sort of scary at first. I thought he would never say hi to me."

I had no idea she had ever noticed me before I started talking to her one night about a year ago.

3.) Two girls in their early 20's who sat next to me last week chatted me up. They asked if I go to that place often. I said yeah, mostly Fridays with that crowd over there. When they left they said see you next Friday. I thought nothing of it. They were a lot younger and people you meet at a bar say that sort of stuff all the time. Just being social. Polite. I really didn't expect them to show up. Well they did. A friend of mine on my left gave up his seat so they could squeeze in next to me. They proceeded to ask a ton of questions about me that told me they had noticed me a lot more than that one night a week ago. As far as I know, I'd never seen them before.

So yeah, I'd bet most of us are oblivious to the people around us noticing us more than we are aware of.

I think so, because I was snitched on at my job, and one of my superiors also called me out for something that I have no idea how she knew. And that same girl was giving me attitude and unfollowed me on IG, the same day I was fired. Then after over a year, my other ex-coworker randomly unfollowed me and then my mom said the lady from the neighboring business said she heard I got fired.

And at school when I got in trouble with the cops and suspended, there were so many rumors about the reason. Then my gym teacher said someone reported me for racism (I know who it was too and why).

And even on THIS website, one of my former friends who's no longer active, said she reported multiple posts that were talking shit about me.

But yeah, hearing all this stuff made my heart skip a beat, because I never thought that people were talking about me, though I also shouldn't be surprised since they were talking about others too.

I even overheard family members talking shit and I know my buddies were talking shit about me from some stuff they said.

If they are, I prefer not to know these things honestly, but they should be ashamed of themselves

I imagine I get shit-talked at work as much as I shit-talk others. Doesn’t mean I want to know about it, but I’m just there to do my job and go tf home

It is always less. All people believe others are watching them, when the truth is they are thinking about their lives; not yours.

Definitely. It's happened so many times at work. I'm definitely one of the most interesting people at my job based on what I've heard.
