At what gas price does filling up really start hurting your budget?

I don't drive much so I don't care. Even though gas has gone up recently, it's still fairly cheap compared to many past increase, some of which were double what we have now - more than double after adjusting for inflation.

Maybe people will stop driving those big tanks for daily commutes.

I don't use my car much. That said, gas is extremely expensive in my state. It is $3.79/gallon for 87 and $4.69/gallon for 91. That is going to hurt.
